I continue to be very happy with my XLT Hybrid...and after speaking with several other owners in various parking lots at Lowe's etc, I feel VERY lucky to have gotten this truck. I basically started looking seriously on a Thursday, was contacted by a deal Friday right after lunch saying they had one come in that a customer didn't want, and we drove down and picked it up Saturday.

I have no idea how the "waiting list" works, but I know that mine was the ONLY one I could find in the state of Maine on that Friday. So it just seems weird that there are people I've spoken to that have been waiting for a year to get their Hybrid Maverick, and here I am buying one in basically 48hrs.
It seems like this vehicle should have been offered to customers that were on the list and had been waiting a long time for their vehicle.

Is that just too complex for Ford and the dealership to handle? Shouldn't they have called someone on the list and offered the truck to them? Do they just figure that in the long run, they're already frustrated and it's not going to really matter?

It's a head scratcher for me...

I waited 16 months for mine, 22 to 23 roll over, XLT hybrid. Did you pay MSRP and when did you buy it? Congrats, I really like my Mav except for the software recalls :)

What waiting list? You order a specific vehicle that you want. You are waiting for that vehicle. Ford does not create a waiting list for the next in line to be served. You got a truck because someone changed their mind on their order.

I understand that's how it works. I'm just surprised they don't attempt to increase customer satisfaction by getting some folks an earlier ride.

Yes, I paid MSRP. It was the only one in my state, possible the only one in New England, so there wasn't a whole lot of leverage on my side ;)

With the Mav, MSRP is good! Some have said they got below MSRP but that is not the norm. Granger and Chapman Ford did offer below but had long wait times. When I ordered my Mav many local dealers had mark ups on the price.

Sounds like you were just at the right place at the right time. Maybe they did look at their list and see if anyone else wanted it. Even with your timeline, that is a possibility. My gut tells me that ford dealers don’t want to keep these on the lot, so If you were a sure deal, it would have made sense to them. Congrats on getting one at MSRP. Dealers around me still have markups, and no hybrids to be seen.

I waited 11 months for my order. But, I got the exact Area 51, AWD, EB with the 4k tow package LX that I wanted. Nothing I didn’t want. I paid MSRP 27,300 OTD.

My understanding is, the vehicle belongs to the ordering dealer. FoMoCo has no relationship with the customer and does not know if the customer through his/her dealer, rejected the vehicle or not.

Therefore, FoMoCo cannot do what you mentioned as far as contacting another buyer for the same build.

There have certainly been members who have bought Mavs that became available instead of waiting for their order. It would just depend on the individual dealer or the customer being proactive.

I had a similar lucky Maverick buy a few months ago. By old truck failed inspection on a Tuesday and shook hands on my Mav XL at MSRP on Thursday. I had been keeping an eye out for a couple months and there had been nothing at MSRP anywhere here in NH. Now at MSRP seems to be the norm here.

I say MSRP, and it's a Hybrid, but I paid the doc fee, and I bought the frame protection package as well, since one of the things keeping my Silverado from getting a Maine Insp Sticker is frame rot.
Maine salt is NOT kind to vehicles.

I was in York for memorial day weekend. Saw 1 maverick the night we got there going out to dinner, and saw 1 on 495 on the way home. Both were EB's. Plenty of hybrids available on dealer lots in MA, but you gotta payyyyy.

Don’t guilt yourself for your good fortune. The worst of times was 2022-2023; nowadays it seems most folks are getting their trucks within 6 months or less after ordering.

Your dealer may not have had a waiting customer that wanted that specific truck. For the last 3 years Maverick buyers have been wanting to order EXACTLY the truck they wanted, and been willing if not too excited to wait a year or more. You got lucky. No one still waiting is mad at you. Enjoy your truck.
