A 2011 Silverado with 235k miles that had a dash that lit up like a Xmas tree. ABS, Traction control, Check Engine, etc.
No way it was going to pass inspection.
It got 15mpg, no matter how you drove it. 40mph around town, 65mph on the hightway, or 85mph on the highway. 15mpg.
I was seriously interested in the Hybrid Turbo model, but none were available at the time and I needed a vehicle, so settled on the plain ol' Hybrid XLT.
11,000 miles and going strong. Getting ready for my first oil change.
I created 2 flash drives...His and Hers, as we have different tastes in music.
It's not a "must have", but there are times when just plugging the stick into the USB slot is nice...don't have to plug the phone in.
I used a ReadiBrake for towing my HHR behind our 36ft Pace arrow. Worked great, and if we put the Mav behind it, will do the same thing there.
I used a Blue Ox tow bar and base plate, did the install myself, took about 4hrs in my garage, BUT...
I always used magnetic brake/signal lights, so...
Ok, but as soon as I swerve to miss a deer that jumps out in front of me at 4am on the highway, on my way to work, and I'm sitting in the breakdown lane "disabled"...that'll be the last mile I drive that vehicle.
We are a VERY long ways from having dependable technology that is capable of this.
I just picked up some lobsters and crabs from a fisherman I know and visit regularly. Asked if I still like it...told him I'm a huge fan of the hybrid.
He had 2 other guys there that work with him. One had brought up a crate of crab in his Silverado 2500 4wd, and he had is F150.
When I told...
I haven't seen the Maverick getting any bigger, and frankly, I don't see Ford introducing any "truck" smaller than the Maverick.
'Price increase is because they've established a very strong foothold in this space, and they can.
It's standard marketing & sales plan.
I keep on of these in my hybrid, just based on all of the "dead hybrid" posts I read here. No idea if it would restart a dead hybrid, but doesn't cost me anything to just keep it in the truck.
I also keep a can of Flat Fix for just in case.
Came across this article this morning. UK comes up with a new way to enforce the speed limit...
"
Although this law doesn't apply in Britain, most vehicles sold in the UK will still have the speed-limiting technology installed by manufacturers.
As the Daily Mail explains, Intelligent Speed...
Back in the 80s I owned a Mercedes 190E. Took it into the dealer for a sticker at 25,800, failed, needed brakes. Dealer said that was normal service for a Benz.
Also, engaging "first" and engaging "hardest" are two diff things. Because rears might engage first, that doesn't mean that fronts...
This is exactly my experience. My first two tanks had zero highway miles. When I filled up, my average MPG was around 45-47. MTE was 550.
THEN...I drove 8hrs r/t, and 5 was on a highway doing 80mph. My mileage was around 36. When I filled up it said I had 470 MTE.
The whole system is somewhat broken. The industry is changing, margins are thinner, and dealers need to become much more efficient if they want to survive....and even then, the whole industry is ripe for disruption.
Look at what Musk did with Tesla. No lots full of cars. No huge building with...
