Looks like the factory interval is 20k on the cabin filter - I am @ 18k with definitely some past dirt road action. Simple swap bought from rock/auto -

Pic attached. Enjoying a lazy Saturday. Cheers -

Good reminder to change these out. I gotta say Ford did a great job of making this an easy filter to service. You'd have to take apart half the car on my old 2002 Accord.

Replaced mine at 11k (when I bought it) and I'll do it again at least every 10k from here on out. I already bought 4 filters.

Friendly reminder: Do NOT buy the knockoff ones' on Amazon or whatever site because there is a 90% chance they are too thick and your HVAC will run overtime and perform terribly while doing it.

Link to the OEM one which for me was cheaper than anything else near me.

And I also agree... thank you for making it easily accessible. I've had ones in the past that required WAY too much effort to get to.

As someone who's first job was working at an oil change place, I can safely say, there's a special place in hell for engineers who design hard to replace cabin air filters. As someone with severe anxiety, it was terrible when you would have to undo a lot of the glove box to get to one, and then once you put it back together, the glove box was acting up.

I am in central Texas and change every 12k miles max. Check ice air and cabin air every 6k miles and may change early. Write on filter date I install with a fine point sharpie just Incase some oil changer place shows me a dirty filter that wasn't mine (happened in 1994 and one other time don't remember year). 😇😂
Update Just checked air filter replaced 7200 miles ago on 9/7/23. Put new one in due to mice nibbling

Thanks for the link! Reminded me to get both engine and cabin air filters for both vehicles.

I never go by the factory interval on that one or the engine air filter. I always just change them in my vehicles in the spring.

New Maverick XLT owner here, don't flame me.... Is the Cabin Air Filter behind the glove box like most vehicles? Tia.

In the year since I've had mine I've replaced it four times because mice like to nest on top of it. I'd like to know where the fresh air intake is so I can put hardware cloth or some kind of mesh over it. Anyone have an idea? It's probably within the inner and outer fender which would make it a pain.

Curious if these just filter air coming into the cabin? If so I will toss and not replace. Been driving almost 50 years without one, besides,no filter when you roll the windows down 😆 but,if it is crucial to air conditioner function/longevity I will definitely replace. Thoughts?
