So I take Mav to the dealership for the first oil change since I’m getting too old to climb under these things anymore. First, I actually have to correct them regarding the oil for a hybrid Mav vs the Ecoboost. That didn’t give me a whole lot of confidence. When I pick up Mav, I confirm the full syn and 0w-20 and drive home. Then I see the rear license plate nearly folded over; my wife actually bent it halfway back before this pic. How can you not know that this happened??? Maybe they thought the license plate needed an oil change as well??? How do you even get near the recessed, rear license plate during an oil change???? These dealerships don’t understand how important it is to take care of a customer vehicle no matter how minor their faulted issue is. Of course, I let them know when they requested a quality rating and never heard boo back from them. This kind of stuff drives me NUTS!!!!

If they did then they tried at the dealership lot. It wasn’t there when I took it in.

did they wash it? I've seen brush car washes do this. But....never the rear plate only the front.
Good point. They did wash it but, the rear plate was nearly completely folded over on itself so I’m not sure how a wash brush would do that much bending out and down particularly since the rear plate is recessed. My wife bent it halfway back prior to the pic so picture it bent towards itself by another 4-5 inches!! I have no idea how they did this.

The fact they magic marker the plate is worse than bending it.
I really needed that laugh after a crappy day. Thanks for lightening my stress over this. I’m a perfectionist living in a very imperfect world.

It in incredible that the techs don't know what oil to put in. Happened to me the 1st two times I've been there at the service desk - I told them no it needs to be full synth and the 2nd time I wrote them up in my 'review' about this and asked how could they still be doing this after 2 years? Don't the fluid requirements show up when they put in the vin or have HYBRID staring t hem in the face? Don't let them get away with this - go on down there and find out what happened - my dealer takes pix of the truck from each side when it comes in, if they did the same to yours they likely magically lost them.

Most dealerships have a Customer Satisfaction Exec. I'd asked to talk to one and explain what happened. My experience was that I got my truck back with the rear seat up and the battery cover (under the rear seat) unhinged. Mentioned it to the service rep and got a call within minutes from the Customer Satisfaction person who was very apologetic and offered several compensations. Pleasantly surprised.

Oh ok, yes this must have been intentional by someone. (my guess)

My mother in laws plate kept having this happen. Eventually I told her check before and after a wash. She realized it was the car wash. Almost folded it in half everytime.

This would just about cause anyone to get "bent out of shape". I would ask them to buy a new and undamaged replacement plate. May as well get a vanity plate while you are at it!!!!

I once, and only once, had an oil change at Jiffy Lube and the dip stick turned up missing. Only about 30 inches long in my Ram diesel. Good help is hard to find!!!
