Engine fire recall

Got the recall letter today, anyone know if it will take add-on’s off a Xl ?

I got my recall too. It is Recall notice 23S27/NHTSA Recall 23V380

How do you fix possible engine fire/failure possibility with a computer software update. Update the PCM free parts and labor.

IF you have any BCM coding changes, I would simply return to your factory codings before the update/recall. I don't think it's necessary to change all modules back to factory coding but its not a bad idea.

The last fix for the possible engine fire was a ridiculous joke. They drilled some holes in the bottom engine cover and removed 2 shutters from the top and bottom shutters. They just broke them out. Half of one was still in the truck. Fell out when I had bumper removed for adding the radar module for adaptive cruise control. I will not be taking it in for a reprograming of the computer. How is that supposed to prevent the engine blowing up and the resulting possible fire.

Methinks the "software" update is just to stop the engine AFTER it throws a rod.

^^^ This exactly. No software update will cure what ails an engine that is destined to fail from faulty parts or assembly.

You should read the forum more. The explanation is there.

Explanation of what? Why the recall? I know why the recall is happening. Ford had a batch of engines that did got get proper machining of some engine parts. Therefore it might self-destruct. The measures they are taking do not fix the real problem.
