So I've heard the CV axle components on the maverick tremor are more robust and much less likely to fail than the conventional CV axles on the maverick hybrid and Ecoboost. I don't know how common that failure seems to be in the first place, but it seems to pop up on the forums quite a bit.

I'm not an engineer/mechanic, but because that's a relatively minor component, and the tremor mavericks are still the same platform as all the other mavericks, I was wondering if it would be possible to install the beefier CV joints from the tremor onto other mavericks?

Depending on how much more expensive the tremor CV boots were, if the cost difference is negligible, this could be how Ford addresses the issue with CV boots going forward. They could recall mavericks and fitting them with stronger, more durable components. Or owners on the forums could have these more durable components added to their truck when the time came to fix these parts. I don't know, it seems like this could be a way to minimize the chance of having this issue in the future. But I could be missing something due to my lack of knowledge on the subject.

Not a stupid question.
Valid question.

I have the same question. I do not have the problem so far.

Just need to see if the CV Axle issue is wide-spread enough to go down the road of a redesign vs.
just replacing with same unmodified part.

if the same length (different transmission) and the same spline diameter and count.

Will work on ecoboost , not hybrid( different transmission out put locations and spline retention )
I don’t believe too many standard eco boost people have had axle issues.
Yes tremor front axles are only $40 and $60 more than standard hybrid axles in cost just think the aftermarket will be the one to offer better solutions in about 2-3 years as the demand warrants it.

The Hybrid is a dog if you ask me, but it has enough torque to rip these cheap Hyundai axles. Take it easy off the line, keep power 50% or below, don't slam on the brakes unless needed. Don't whip around in parking lots and keep auto hold off when parking. These axles can't handle it. No issues here yet...

So it's looking like a maybe on the Ecoboost, and a no on the hybrid. Now here's the other thing, if we see an AWD hybrid with the refresh, they might do something about the CV axles there to handle a more powerful setup. If they retain the same transmission is the normal hybrid, with the same mounting points, that could be the solution for hybrid owners.

Ford can warranty them if they fail. Trucks were meant to be driven, not babied.

I'm not 100% positive on this but I believe all the issues are with the people that lifted their trucks putting that extra strain on the CV's.

This is a absolutely the case for both the hybrid and Ecoboost. We've seen some stock mavericks with this issue, but it seems less common. Not a maverick specific thing either, having talked to other types of truck owners, lifting heavy duty trucks often causes a lot of components to wear out quickly.

Warranty is 5y/60k, not forever, correct? Your truck was meant to be driven, not mine. Mine was meant to be babied since I'm paying for it and all. I'll be the only one driving it, thank you.

I prefer to stay running vs "in the shop", warranty or not.
