I don't get why so many don't care that they could wind up paying more for insurance and such. This is not about selling you crap and tracking your store visits.

This is detrimental profiling. Not all people who floor their accelerator are bad drivers. If you have to drive on shitty dangerous roads with short on ramps and such you now get to pay the increased risk associated with someone elses bad engineering. This type of data collection isn't going to take into account that you brake or accelerate for good reason. It's horse shit quite frankly, and there should be a way to opt out.

So yeah, we should all deregister and pull the fuses just to get them to recognize this shit isn't ok. To date most other forms of tracking are for advertising, fine if I get something and I know the impact is some shitty adds. However, this is a preview of more oppressive 💩 coming.
Ford could make some money by adding an option that disables all tracking.
I made sure the "Insurance Tracking" was turned off in the Maverick screen when I bought the truck. Is everyone saying that even if we disable driving/insurance characteristics tracking, Ford is ignoring this? I think Ford would run into legal issues if they were caught turning over your driving info even though you chose "No" in the menu they put in the vehicle.

Just went and checked my truck again and it's still disabled.

If I gave a crap about it, I'd disable the spy, but I don't, so I won't.
Yeah, the older I get the less I care about stuff. My story wouldn't sell.

I've done nothing to be ashamed of
I've gotten caught for nothing I'm ashamed of. Doesn't matter though, my wife still cleaned me out at the divorce.

Lol, I looked just a day or so ago and my "connectivity settings" section is unresponsive. Figures!

Really this magnitude of info collection should be "opt in". Opt out defaults are BS. Our laws need updating for tech info collection.

Honestly, I don't trust them with the preference. Even if it is unintentional and just a coding error, we know there are plenty of. Ford isn't going to do squat to help those affected adversely if that happens. Just like the total crap consolation prizes companies give when loose all your private data they were supposed to be "safeguarding".

Update: Had to reset the entire system and reactivate to get that screen back. I see now it is infact opt-in vs opt out. I'll still lay a 50/50 bet we all get an "oops poops, sorry we gave your data to the world" letter. Cynical I know, but we the consumer need to let it be known that this type of stuff and aggressive seat belt warnings are absolutely intolerable 😁.

Both our Fords had "insurance Related Data" option disabled by default. So I never had to opt out.

I read Ford was one of the companies that opted everyone out and you have to opt in if you want to be tracked for insurance purposes. Other companies did the opposite.

I don't have any issue getting into connectivity settings.

How does Carfax obtain so much information about a vehicle? Every service center, dealership, body shop, BMV must be selling information to Carfax.
