Gas Tank Door

I have a 2024 Lariat. The manual says there should be a lever in the wheel well that can be used to manually open the door to the gas filler if the button on the cab is not working. This is honestly something I never thought about, but now that I have read about it I am aware that my truck does not seem to have this. Is there some other way to open the gas door if the button malfunctions?

My button is located on the instument cluster where the headlight/on-off adjustments are. It has a cute little "Gas pump" icon on the button.

To be fair, this was a "Where is the green tab?" post and not a "WHAT THE HECK IS THIS GREEN TAB?!?!?!"

I'm not sure if this is worth pursuing with Ford.

It may have popped-off and is behind the shroud.

Yes, I felt behind the cover but it is a pretty tight fit even for a finger. I did not feel anything.

I can verify that my 2024 Lariat Hybrid has that tab there. That destroys my theory that it is more secure than manual opening gas doors... :-(

Wait- you do have a HYBRID that has the button operated gas door, correct?? If so, then yes, pursue. If not, you just manually open the door and no tab is necessary to overide a broken dashboard button.

Yes, it is a HYBRID with the button-operated gas door.
I will probably wait until it goes in for something else and then have them look at it again. I was actually at a dealership yesterday to pick up a n accessory. I asked the service advisor about it, and he looked and just told me that the manuals are boilerplate and not al models have all features...

It's supposed to be there and it is not. If it's a new vehicle, you should get it fixed under warranty, before you forget about it. Not having it could leave you stranded if you're on a trip and the 'lectric fuel door opener fails for whatever reason.

OP, you can likely easily fix it yourself in 5 minutes... the cord probably came unclipped and is hanging behind the liner.

The plastic inner wheel well liner is retained by several plastic push pins around the outer lip closest to the outside of the truck. Pop out the pin at the 12 o'clock position and at the 10 o'clock position and you will see where the cord routes to the gas door... just reach in and position it back to where it should clip on (shown in the area you pictured) then pop the pins back in.

@CaptKirk it is more secure since you need the key to operate that tab.
