In my new maverick lariat hybrid at the 1000 mile mark with a mixture of city and highway driving I’m getting about 35mpg. I’ve had some folks report on YouTube and chat rooms crazy numbers like 45mpg etc. am I missing something? Does my driving generally suck or are there better ways to improve fuel economy? :)
With 7500 miles on my Hybrid my overall MPG is 43.4. This includes about 1000 miles at or above 70mph. My secret (?!!): I don't leadfoot, approaching a red light or stop sign I let off the joy pedal and coast farther than many/most drivers, and I use the cruise control as much as is practical. The only mod I've done to my Mav is to add a Steeda strut tower brace, and glad I did, too. Happy motoring yew awl, and keep on truckin'.

I commute 39 miles each way in the NC mountains. The road is a 4-lane with a 55mpg speed limit. I drive 59mph except for a 4 mile stretch climbing one mountain, then a 3 mile decent. The return trip is 3 then 4. The guess-o-meter says I am getting42mpg, but a calculator and my gas receipts say 41mpg. When I drive in the hills of north GA I get about 50mpg.

Thanks so much … I’m wondering if switching to eco or slippery mode might help… didn’t try that? …been seeing some folks referring to that … not critical but just curious if I can boost my mpg ..
Every truck must be different. When I put mine in eco mode my gas milage sucks, all the way into the mid 30s, but under normal I'm getting 42.9 over the first 9300 miles. I haven't tried slippery, deciding to be happy with normal.

If you drive at 40mph or less, flat surface, use no heat/AC you can exceed 45mpg, down hill I got 90mpg, exceed 65 on the hiway and you will observe a drop. 70mph hiway, no load, flat surface, cruise control, 34mpg+. I average 35mpg or about 440mptank

Something's not right. I get 39 highway, and 45+ in the city. Maybe you're driving high speed on the highway. Or do you do most of your driving uphill?

Wow! Over 500 miles per tank! Can't wait!

My Maverick has been built and shipped. Haven't got it yet, though.
I got over 600 once. Still not sure how I did it.

I’ve had my 23’ Lariat Hybrid since Nov. 1st, and this is my first tank to break the 600 mile mark. I do about 90% highway driving to and from work, big caveat though, I’m in a very densely populated area of S. Florida, so I rarely ever get up to speed. As you can see I’m at 23 mph on I-95 after work around 5pm. I’m always in normal mode and am mainly in EV Coach screen as well. Being in S. Florida its a requirement to use A/C as well, usually at 70 degrees. I just drive it normally as I would a normal gas car.

As of the end of January, I have had my hybrid for 2 years. I have whatched countless youtube videos with people saying 50-60 mpg. I'm like you, I believe I have averaged about 35-38 true at the pump mpg. I think that alot of these owners are going by the mpg shown on the gauges which is always at least 4 over what I normally get. Mpg has seemed to go down a little in the winter, but not much. The worst I got was around 32, so you might want to have yours checked if you are getting 20.

  • Use Slippery mode.
  • Enable both EV Coach & Brake Coach in the Vehicle Settings Menu (steering wheel menu controls). Try to keep the EV Coach in the green or blue bar graphs. Traffic permitting, shoot for 100% Regenerative braking w/ the Brake Coach.
  • Minimize heater and A/C use in non-highway driving. In my driving, heat seems to be worse than A/C, as far as hurting city mileage.
This is my last trip yesterday and typical non-highway mileage for me. Sometimes more sometimes less.

On my truck, multiplying the displayed MPG by roughly .95 will give true mileage (46.3mpg).

My wife easily gets 3-5mpg worse than I do in Maverick or Odyssey. And I drive "faster" on the on-ramps etc...

Every time you brake you're wasting gas. So if accelerating just to brake again can be avoided, go easier on the gas. Watch the traffic ahead and slow a little to avoid slowing a lot. etc...

That can be adjusted on the computer by doing the following:

Other than improved handling, does the strut tower brace have any other advantages?
