I put on a Mabett mud flap and then made this plastic piece to fill the hole left by the mudflap. may not be the greatest, but better than nothing.

I started this thread back in early February after I took delivery of my Maverick and saw the same cavity others had posted about.

Today, I drove my Mav in its first rain, slush and snow mix. When i got home, i had to crawl under the left rear and take a look. IMO ( In My Opinion), the shield worked great. It was wet, drippy and packed with snow. I can only assume everything above was dry or at least not packed with crap. Why wouldn't it be !

Thanks to all that appreciate my design and thanks to all the others who posted before me on this issue and gave me ideas.

And, thanks to others that are doing 3D printing, improving on my design and suggesting or supplying mounting hardware.

To me, that's what this forum is all about. Getting and giving ideas, along with helping to resolve problems or issues.

Quick update to everyone, finished the prototype today. I have someone who is going to test it for me and then give me any feedback. Here is a picture of it.

The final design will be in black ASA, a material very similar to ABS, which is used in car plastics already, with just a bit more desirable properties for printing. If I can find a box the right size it will come preassembled. Everyone interested would you like it to include the L brackets and stainless hardware required or source that yourselves?

I plan to attempt with $5 ($3 w/ coupon) 20x30 piece of coroplast, available if you have Michael's nearby
I'll just rig it with zip ties and whatever bolts/screws I might have handy, but probably mostly zip ties and maybe some black duct tape for good measure.

I had a friend point me over here and I'm going to mock up a 3d model up right now and start printing if there is interest. I don't personally own a Maverick but from my understanding, it would be the same on either side and just mirrored.

My understanding is only the left (driver's side) has a void. I'd be interested in your product should you decide to take it on.

Great work. I was just mocking up a model of your design and the measurements do not quite line up with your picture I assume you made a 1/1 cardboard model so I based this model on that 13-inch measurement on the bottom. Do you mind helping me clear that up? Anyway, I will be making some if anyone is interested.
