Hello, I was planning on replacing my PTU, RDU, and transmission fluid (possibly with additives) around break-in period ending (I'm assuming 2-3k miles).

I'm new to these fluids other than engine oil, can we all chip in a make a list of OEM fluids plus aftermarket fluids too?

If your warranty is important to you, stick with Motorcraft fluids and document all maintenance on Ford.com unless you have the dealer do it and then it is entered automatically for you.

Is there a benefit to maintenance log at ford.com, I already keep my own log of literally everything of the vehicals I've owned so far.

The benefit is there's a a timestamp added to it, while they could claim you falsified the records if written.

That's the way I look at it too plus there is an electronic record anyone can see if you give them the VIN.

Not sure if I specified in that posting or not, but you can reuse the the drain plugs. They are not TTY.

It's a very easy process too. Arguably one of the easiest set of diff's I've ever done. Good luck.

So.....is that a stealership's benefit then?

Yes, thanks, all drain plugs can be reused with a new seal. Had an Integra for 15 years, same drain plug for engine oil, went through only two aluminum crushed washer. I only replaced it because it was from the previous owners that had a droplet of leak that I can spot once in a while in the garage floor. Going through a Camry now with 5th year (previously with family member from the start @ 20k), with 146k still the same drain plug oil and original seal no leak. Thanks for the list of lubes on the other thread, it was very useful!! Just looking for aftermarket options too.

Yea I agree... FORD is very vague in their description of fluids and while some are close in viscosity, I feel the move was done more so they can sell MC fluid. This is the first time I have ever seen a dif fluid labelled a single viscosity weight. It's all a way for them to sell more of their fluids and deny warranty work because you used something with give or take 5 points on the viscosity scale. Which sucks, because for the cost you can easily get Amsoil. I'm just glad it's a small amount of fluid. All the other dif's I've ever done have gotten something like Valvoline or whatever is off the shelf in the correct viscosity.

Anyways, I ended up getting mine off RockAuto and have enough for a couple changes. I'll be doing every 20k (I'd likely stretch to around 30k if I drove more).

Use the factory fluids.

I’ve done early fluid swaps on a few rigs, and the biggest help was sticking with known specs and changing everything warm so it drains clean. I’ve used genuine honda oil on my old daily and liked how consistent it felt, so for the Maverick I just look for fluids that meet Ford’s exact ratings in the same no‑nonsense way. Additives never made a difference for me, clean fluid always did.
