The term "bricked" when talking about ev vehicles has become over-used. It was coined when the original Tesla roadsters came onto the ev scene. These cars would not even roll if the battery became drained. Stupid design as neutral could not be selected. Worse, draining the battery ruined it completely, as in, sorry buddy, you let the battery go dead and since it's your fault, you are SOL. Very few of these were built (Elon parked one in outer space - proof that distance lends enchantment?) so not too many people were aware of the issue.
The tag for this thread is misleading IMHO, as it might be intepreted to mean the Maverick is somehow to blame instead of directly implicating the faulty installation. As some say, "don't blame the tool, blame the fool"

I opted to go with the Demco baseplate, wireless magnetic lights and NSA Ready Brute elite II tow bar system with the surge brake. No need to touch any vehicle wiring or run a harness from toad to motorhome. Just fasten a couple of cables to brake pedal through firewall.

I should further note that the two diodes being jumped in the Roadmaster instructions are for the 2 tail lights, NOT the brake lights, and NOT the turn signals. All that jump does is avoid having to run 4 wires (green, Yellow, and 2 browns) from the front and use 3 wires instead. I've done that before as well, as only one signal triggers both the tail lights, and running pin 4 (taillights) as shown in the instructions works just fine. Some trailer wiring kits have the extra brown wire, and some don't.

Somebody wired it wrong, and it isn't Roadmaster's instructions. Maybe someone wired the 6 pin backwards as those "Front of socket" and "Front of plug" views can be confusing if someone isn't being very careful.

@ianjay, I agree that the term "Bricked" may not have been appropriate. But at the time I wrote the first post, the car was useless, with everyone (including the dealer) standing around with their hands in their pockets with no idea how to get the car running again. Now, at least, they believe they have the problem located. We're waiting on a new BCM.

UPDATE 2: The Ford dealership placed an "emergency" order for the 2024 Maverick BCM at the end of December. The service rep informed me yesterday, "Unfortunately no new update. Back ordered no eta. Unfortunately, it could be months. I hope that’s not the case, but it's definitely a possibility. I wish I had a better answer for you."

So we wait. We live full-time in our motorhome and are now stuck in Florida until we have a resolution. I saw on eBay there are OEM Ford Maverick BCMs. Are they the same thing?

You could get one, go to them (or someone else) and say put it in. May work fine. But of course you'll get zero warranty and have to sign "owner accepts full responsibility" stuff. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Crap shoot.

There is nothing odd about the Roadmaster instructions. I essentially wired mine the same, but with an $18.50 set of 4 diodes, and it works fine. The instructions to jump the two taillight wires is odd, and it is much easier to use 4 separate diodes (LT Turn, RT Turn, and each running light separately), But that should not have caused any issue. That is what diodes are for, to isolate the voltages applied to the lights.

I would more suspect a mis-wiring inside the 6pin connector by your installer. I've done 9 of these over the years and never had such an issue occur. Someone should carefully examine that 6 pin. There are many of us already with successful installs on our Mavericks. The Roadmaster kit is just an expensive collection of the needed items, but there isn'tanything wrong with it when properly installed.
Do you have the pin out and wire color for the tail lights?

As I answered elsewhere, here are the Ford wires I cut and put in the ebay diode set.

Driver's side Solid Purple wire is the taillight (Use one of the Brown wire diodes)

Driver's side White with Green Stripe is the Left Turn/Brake light combo (Use the diode with a Yellow wire)

Passenger side White with Orange Stripe wire is the taillight (Use the 2nd Brown wire diode)

Passenger side Violet with Purple stripe is the Right Turn/Brake light combo (Use the Green wire diode).

EDIT: This is correct. I somehow fat-fingered it incorrectly at first.

Update 3: Part finally arrived two weeks ago. But then they could not program it! Still waiting for a Ford Tech to show up to the dealership to help. 55 days and counting!

UPDATE 4: Finally at 61 days we have a resolution!!! Ford says the cable bracket installed to allow the Demco air brake system was installed too tightly, thus keeping pressure on the brake pedal and draining the battery. Ford says the car is ready to be picked up. We found a transport company to get it shipped to us in New Orleans. Now, we are just waiting on the RV Shop to finish the tow gear install.

does this mean the BCM was fine all along and their original diagnosis was wrong?
