The H-5 will replace the T-4 without issues?
It requires removal/bending of the sheet metal end tabs. Since it's a longer battery it's a bit of a tight fit afterwards particularly the positive terminal plastic cover.

It has been stated in this forum that there was a battery shortage during Ford production for the Maverick and it was replaced with another one.
The EcoBoosts were the ones where they switched the battery mid-production. Early ones had a regular SLA and then switched to an AGM battery.

Actually the battery that was installed in my Maverick was an EFB (not a regular SLA). I have to put a battery tender on it once a week during the winter to prevent more than a 50% discharge.

I ended up going the Weize H5 battery route after mine wasn't coming out of deep sleep since the new year. Ordered directly from Weize and it was under $113 shipped. Hardest part was finagling the bin plastic piece out. Wasn't in deep sleep this morning, but the real test would be after the upcoming holiday weekend.

Put my tester on the OE battery that's now about 23 months old. Tested good with low-ish charge (12.36V when I did the first test), but it always had the symptoms others have observed with the voltage diving precipitously to near 12V flat when in the vehicle and not being actively charged.

Cool, hope it works well for you. The Weize H6 in my EcoBoost has had no issues since installing it in early December. Knock on wood...

I thought I read in one of these threads that you cannot replace a flood battery with an AGM in these vehicles because of a software configuration.

Is that false or does it just works anyways?

Actually the software is configured for an AGM but an EFB was used instead because of the part shortage. This is one of the reasons for the battery issue.

In the hybrid or the EB?

I can readily use FORScan so that's not really an obstacle. But as mentioned by default it's configured as an AGM, at least as FORScan reports it.

There are a lot of temporary solutions discussed in various threads but they are not effective for the long term. I still think the BMS is the issue. On short trips (less than 15 minutes), the battery does not get charged (or very little). All other solutions are just Band-Aids.
This is my belief also. I think it is the BMS not being properly reset. It thinks your battery is reading 9.5 volts when in reality it is reading 12.3 or something.

So that is in the hybrid too?

To replace the battery fully charge the new battery with a good smart charger then the resting voltage will be max for the condition the battery is in. Then put it into truck and do the light flash - brake pedal BMS reset. Then with everything off as in the new battery learn procedure lock the truck and do not bother it, leave it locked for the 6 to 8 hours so the bms can learn what it needs to about the battery (reconfigure software for this battery?) It should update to EFB or AGM as well as update the 12v installed date (mentioned by someone in a thread).

I have to say, if it wasn't for this forum in Maverick Truck Club, many of us would be going back and forth to the dealer with no real solution. What would have been cool is if Ford Corp would authorize dealers to release a coupon or waver for either an AGM battery or a better battery. Many of us have purchased our own batteries, reset the BMS and gone on with our lives. If Ford had just taken ownership of this it would have helped us so much!! What is upsetting to us all is that we purchased a brand new truck and the battery goes bad. Really? And the response from most dealerships was not acceptable. "Drive more", "Your custom add ons is draining the battery". Making it sound like it's our fault. In a new vehicle? Really?

Another thing to consider is the time and energy the consumer (us) has spent in analysing this and coming up with the fix, when we all know somewhere in corporate they knew the solution. For me, what would have been nice is if I went to the dealer and they told me that it is a production issue with inferior batteries and we can order the correct battery for you, or give we'll give you a coupon for (whatever dollars) to purchase one on your own to save you time. And come back to us if you have problems resetting the BMS.

Just simple, basic, customer service.

Well, I got my "customer service" from you all in here!!Thank you!!
