Your kidding right? You can see what supply and demand has done to the price or price gouging that dealerships are adding to the price of the Maverick? At least I hope so.

Another post showing F150 as a hot vehicle to be stolen. That was then, or yesterday, I would think the Maverick will be next. Believe me I hope I'm wrong. Just see the popularity going through the roof right now and the only thing that may curb it is cost or Ford raising the price. Similar to higher interest rates to curb inflation. There will come a point the price may influence buyers to buy something different or a different manufacturer.
Wait, you mean the best selling truck in America is also the most stolen!?!

Hmm, yeah the math checks out on that.

They don't need to intercept your personal connection, they just need to hack Ford's servers. I never said it was easy, just that it can be done. Nothing more. Vehicle manufactures are far from the best when it comes to security, tech security companies have been telling us this for decades.
I get your point about exploiting the Ford servers, it is certainly possible. Not to mention the fact, that a single call from law enforcement and other entities can ask Ford to disable a vehicle. I also agree that most manufactures are not known for for their security for their products.

My point was, that removing fuse# 11 results in no internet access for the system. As such, doing so disables connectivity for the FordPass and also disables Ford server's access to the Maverick. Generally, this is due to how the connectivity works for the Maverick:

FordPass app <--> Internet <--> Ford server(s) <--> Internet <-> Maverick

One can opt out of installing the FordPass app, but that does not impact the connectivity between Ford server(s) and the Maverick. Pulling fuse# 11 does...

Hello, not sure but saw this video and with the high demand for Maverick's, I thought I needed to share this information. The FOB if it has auto start and/or push or keyless ignition, be warned. This video at the very least explains the issue with these devices.

I am an old man that just ordered his new Maverick in late October. I will certainly get this for my Maverick, my wife's Escape, and my daughter's Edge.

Thanks for the reply. I'm not trying to push this product. If you research the internet, there are several household items that seem to work also. Even in this thread a few posts of aluminum foil and a tin container to name a few.

I purposely posted this particular u-tube video just for awareness and or knowledge. Before watching the video I was ignorant, or unaware of it. I just thought this knowledge should give awareness to this issue. This particular video doesn't give other options which is bad or good depending on ones perception. I liked how it explained the issue and what can or did happen to someone who did not know of this or did nothing to prevent it. I think the old phrase "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure" shows credence. I just want to shout out thanks for buying Ford's sounds like either your brand loyal and/or they fit your families needs. Best of luck with all of them and especially the new Maverick.

My hybrid had an anti-theft feature of two-factor authentication (something you know + something you have).

You had to have the physical key as the harness issue prevented the doors from unlocking via the fob, then you had to have the Noco (or similar) jumpbox to power-up the hybrid via the jump points under the hood. Once the above steps were satisfied, you were good until the next stop.

The best theft deterrent on a car is a stick shift. I never worry about someone driving off in my Slingshot.
Just don't make it too easy, someone who wants it will know how to drive it.

Buy a Club if you're worried. It would at least make much harder to take on a keyless push button vehicle that is if you FOB can be duplicated to do everything it takes a start and take drive off. If a thief was able to remote start an Eco boost Maverick XL or XLT you would need the actual key to insert it in the steering column to unlock the brake and shift into drive.

Three on the tree, four or five on the floor AND Four on the Tree.
YES. I had a 1969 SAAB model 96. It was four speed stick (with free wheeling if you wanted) on the column. Back and up for first, down for second, ahead and up for third and down for fourth.
Reverse? That was back, pull out on the shifter, and then up. Made rocking it when stuck a real PITA.

From what I've read, Ford has added the "sleep mode" to its key fobs to help mitigate this type of theft. Does anyone know when Ford started doing this, and if it is in the Maverick fob???

Or me! My other vehicle is a 13 speed. Later this week I will be driving an 18 speed. Wish we could still get our daily drive vehicles with a stick.
