Before the 2024 order banks opened Ford recommended that we place an order for a 2024 if our 2023 had not been given a build date. I got my 2023 build date the same day the order bank opened. My dealership could not answer "should I go ahead and order a 2024", so I did. I got my 23 in October... my 24 will be here next month (Ford didn't cancel)! Looking for opinions on what to do. Let the dealership have the 24? Figure out financing and then sell the 24? Figure out financing and sell my 23? Both are identical Cactus Grey Hybrids. I'm in the Atlanta area and loving my Maverick! 13 months from order to delivery! Has anyone else run into this?

You did not say what trim level and options you have, but some features on the '23's are no longer available or standard on the '24's: ie. heated WS, keypad, sliding window, inverter etc. And then, there is the price increase.

The dealer (not Ford) would be the one to cancel an order. The dealer didn't want to cancel a high-demand order they could quickly sell, either to you or someone else lucky enough to show up on the lot and buy it.

Both are Lariats will all the options avail for the year model. I hate to say it, but the keypad is the one difference that would make me keep the 23. ;)

If the dealer ordered the MY24 using the same order number as they were supposed to on a rollover then Ford may have indeed cancelled it as it was built in their books.

It happened to me as well. Rolled my order to a '24 which has been scheduled and built (shipped last week and headed to the dealer), my '23 order ended up getting scheduled and delivered early November. Lariat Lux Hybrid in Cactus Gray like yours. I'm just letting them keep the '24, I use the keypad all the time on my '23 and I've moved 1000 miles from the dealer since the original orders so not worth getting back there for a truck I'm not keeping.

If you have a private offer I'd take the 24 but if not keep the 23

It's not Ford that didn't cancel it, it's the dealer. Hard to say just where the market is going.
I'd walk away from it. If you're pissed at the dealer, cancel it with Ford.

If you put a ton of miles on your '23 then you can go through the hassle of selling the '23 and buying the 24. You will probably pay a premium for this. Doesn't make sense now to flip, too risky in my opinion.

I have a 24 that should be at the dealer any day. Shortly after ordering the 24 I found an identical 23 that I purchased and then canceled the 24. Obviously dealer didn't cancel so I'll just decline it if they even call me. Same dealer bought 1 Bronco and 1 Maverick back from me that I had ordered previously but I think that ship has sailed so I'll just let this one go.

Flipping isn't a guarantee like it used to be. I say punt the 24 and let the dealer deal with it.

It's super nice to leave stuff in the truck and not have to carry a key:
-going for a run
-going into a funeral (don't need phone/wallet)
-going kayaking (don't want to risk losing truck key)
-etc...

The keypad is one of our favorite features.
