This week I took my Hybrid into the dealership for the battery harness "customer satisfaction" program. To make a long story short I got a current generation Escape SEL, fully loaded by the looks of it, with the EB engine (same engine as Maverick EB?) as a loaner. It's a good thing I got a vehicle, because it's been there for three days now, and counting. They kept breaking things, but that's not what this post is about.
Anyway, to this quick comparison review after three days with the Escape, I think it's one of the newer ones, has less than 24.5k miles on it.
Plus for Escape
- Interior seems better designed other than being black. The seats are not uncomfortable, just different and don't like vinyl fake leather seats. Even with the heated seats on full, they are still cold for a good 5 minutes after driving off, which is after 5-6 minutes remote start.
- Has full sync (no idea which version) infotainment which is much more responsive (including backup camera)
- Push button/keyless and has digital keypad on driver door
Negative for Escape
- Slow to get off the line initially, but quick over all. Turbo lag though, I'm getting used to it, but yuck.
- Transmission shifts feels like it's a junky manual with an automatic clutch or something like that. Very jerky when changing gears, lots of lag on shifts and makes driving less fun, and a little uncomfortable.
- This one has the issue I've read some Maverick owners had with the power window, in which it doesn't want to stay up. Very frustrating, but finally got it to stay up.
Plus for the Maverick Hybrid
- Quick launch, good for getting into traffic in the city
- Hybrid power train, smooth as butter, no shifting and lurching.
- No Turbo lag!
- No sunroof, on mine anyway!
- Has a truck bed
- It's a Maverick
Long story short, cannot wait to get my Maverick back!
