My 2023 Maverick XLT that I purchased in January was totaled in August while being parked on the street. Naturally, I quickly ordered a nearly exact replacement 2024. Magically, it appeared 3 months later as one of the first 24's at the dealer. I think I got lucky.

I only drove it for 2 days and 150 miles so far, but I noticed some differences between my 2023 and 2024 XLTs:
  • MPG has increased. I could swear that I am getting better MPG numbers, but need more data. I was averaging 37 on a particular drive with my 2023, and now I got 42.
  • Build quality is better. Overall fit and finish, and interior plastics seem better quality. Truck feels solid.
  • So far no shuddering when braking in certain stops.
  • On my 2023, there was a high frequency sound in Hybrid while gas engine was on at around 40mph. In the 2024, still heard a very faint sound, but don't even notice it unless I am trying really hard. It was loud in my 2023.
  • I ordered a hard trifold tonneau cover from the factory. The quality of that piece has increased as well. The panels seem to be made from better materials now.

Good to hear there seem to be some improvements. If you have a chance, could you post the model number of your 12V battery? Just wondering if the ‘24 model is the same as ‘23 or if they changed it to a stronger model to address some of the deep sleep issues.

Thank you, st3v, for the update. The point above is what I'm most hopeful about. I haven't received my truck yet, but my gut tells me this is the area I might've been disappointed with. Glad to hear someone feels it has improved.

Same exact tires? I was wondering if the MPG improvement could be related to a different tire?

I got my 24 hybrid on 11/17/23. Compared to my 22 EB [8,700 on the odo] I agree the fit and finish seems better on the 24 and the plastic has slightly more gloss to it. I hope it is less suceptible to scuffs. Overall my observations are similar to what you wrote. Thanks!

There is only one hard trifold tonneau available when ordering a Maverick. It is a branded Ford accessory.

Lucky dawg! My 23 was totaled in August and I also quickly ordered a replacement and it won't be here for a month or two.
I've reccomend to people to order a new one first thing even if there's just the chance it might be totaled. In the meantime I went and bought one off a lot that I'm going to have to sell.
That's good news about the '24.

My MY23 is perfect minus a dash "cackle" - materials are identical.

Glad to hear you got your replacement!

This is encouraging. I have yet to see a MY24 in person just like the majority but it's good to hear that the build quality/fit and finish has improved. I ordered a 24 a few weeks ago and I have no idea when it'll come but now this makes me more excited to know that it'll be better built. I would hope so after three model years! That's enough time for the manufacturer to work out the first model year teething issues and recalls.

I’m glad you got yours and it’s nice. I gotta say I’m still shocked ford has these so messed up. I ordered mine the very minute banks open and still not even scheduled. Very basic truck.
