Anyone paint steelies BLACK and install hubcaps???

Has anyone painted their steel wheels black and then install hubcaps? If so, can you PLEASE post a picture or 2? Thanks!

The steelies with just hubcaps do not look very good, imho. You can see the circles behind the hubcap covers. thanks! Bob

I am going to paint mine black without hubcaps. I have seen some pictures of the cactus grey w/black steelies and it looks good. I will either paint the silver ford lug cover black, try 3D printing a replacement, or find something else aftermarket.

First thing I did with the new Maverick was to paint the wheels black! Note: the hubcaps came in blue.

I am NOT a fan of hubcaps, or black wheels in general, but I think this looks really really good on the truck.

Maybe if nothing shows up like your needing, find some thin black plastic bag type material, remove hubcap, place plastic between wheel and hubcap, install hubcap, trim excess plastic, step back and visualize then remove plastic. In a bind cheap visual is the thought

$650 to powder coat the steel wheels black for my winter set. I said no. It's also not an easy DIY job IMO to paint them correctly. Or at least I'm too lazy to do it.

I ended up applying Chemical guys max coat wheel guard instead of painting them.

I saw others recommend putting on at least four coats, so I did five for good measure. The four wheels used exactly three cans of Plasti Dip which cost me $22 from Menards. I put it on pretty thick so left 60 minutes between coats rather than the recommended 30 minutes. The hub caps cost $55 from Amazon so my total steelie extreme makeover was a mere $77...and I'm really pleased with how they turned out.

Awesome, I was just wondering if my 4 cans of Anthracite Grey PlastiDip would be enough for my steelies. Grey rim, red center cap.
