So, I picked up my Maverick last Thursday. Tonight we are heading to South America for over a month. Family members will be around (and probably will want to drive the Mav), but is there anything I should do to keep the 12 volt battery happy while I'm gone?
Thanks.

I probably would've posted this last week so someone could have recommended a 10w-20w solar battery charger for around $30...

This one is over priced but may be available locally today:

FordPass app has the SCHEDULED STARTS feature. Maybe a 15 minute run once a week might help.
I've never used though.

Battery Tender 021-0123 Junior 12V, 0.75A Battery Charger and Maintainer, Black/Green (021-0123) https://a.co/d/iobpblv

You need to unplug the battery or put a tender on like this. If you disconnect the battery you lose alot of memory in modules.

I've got thus battery tender. I left the country for 2 months for work and came back and the truck fired right up.

Park it in Chicago! Lol. A battery tender may be your best option. I keep a battery tender on my bike whenever I do not ride it.

That’s what I was thinking, a scheduled start once every 5-7 days should do the job.

10-15 minutes ~1x a week is going to do little to keep the battery reasonably charged.

A (real) Battery Tender Jr. is inexpensive and will keep the battery charged.

I think the purpose of starting it has less to do with charging the battery than keeping the vehicle “awake”. I might be wrong, but that’s my current understanding of why we need to do this…

I really wouldn't do that. Just buy a battery Tender. Idling direct injection engines won't get it up to temp and will just cause issues. Plus I wouldn't want my truck running without any one to monitor it. It's just a fire hazard. A car can easily sit for a year without being ran. I used to have vehicles in storage for a year when I worked overseas without being ran. No issues.

The Hybrids generally go into Deep Sleep due to +12VDC voltage drop.
