Looks like the mud flaps will cut fuel mileage a bit and increase engine noise. Both minor but there. May require removing them and checking the numbers. On my normal drive have noticed about .3 mpg decrease.

Sounds about right.

Reminds me that early on there was someone said they removed the little plastic air deflectors in front of the front tires, and put way bigger/ wider/ knobbier tires on and complained about 5mpg loss.....

Let me guess… you are looking at the instrument panel and ASSUMING that the readout is accurate?

I've been resisting commenting on posts about mpg changes while adding/removing/modifying anything.
I'm sure everyone has noticed that our Mavs are basically a brick on 4 wheels?!! :)
