Hi, Bought a new Maverick and when driving it home noticed hail damage on the hood that was not noticeable in the dealership building when taking ownership. Reported the issue to the dealer an hour after buying the truck. They said they would take care of it. Had to contact them 2 weeks later and was told Ford corporate takes care of it. It's been over a month and have heard nothing.

Where does the responsibility land Corporate or the dealership?

Looking for first hand experience on this.

Thanks!

They are just passing the buck down the road. Basically if you don't notice it before taking possession and leaving the dealer, you're hooped.

Update. Dealer will be fixing the damage.
That's great that they will take responsibility. However, what are they going to do? New painted Hood? Or just paintless dent repair? It sucks that you have to deal with this mess on a new truck. Someone at the dealership should have noticed hail damage on delivery and inspection. Quality control at the factory, during transit, and at the dealership sucks.

DIDN'T YOU PAY FOR "dealer prep"??? Some call it a DOCK FEE....???? This the Dealer.. why you pay the money for him to do his job.

I had a van I bought once that had paint drips on the bottom of the quarter panels..
I had to involve a zone manager before it was talke care of as paint was applied at the factory, not like your case-- once it left the factory..

Then after the "fix" I was at the quarter car wash and the spray took off the re-paint is sheets as big as your hand.. Back again...they did not prime the area of repair..

I had a small area on my dash that I thought they had forgotten to paint but it turned out to be some kind of gray substance on the blue plastic. Talked to the service advisor when I went in for my first oil change and he told me to check with the sales department? They of course were of no help. Went back to their body shop and the manager got some of it off with some window cleaner and a microfiber. I told him I would work on it- did not want him to make it worse. I used a variety of cleaners but ultimately just rubbing it off with a fingernail and a cloth got it mostly off so it looks okay. I think it was some kind of adhesive.

I should have seen it when I picked it up but then they should have seen it when they prepped the car. Not a huge deal- I wasn't going to refuse the truck over that.

I bought a 22 Maverick that was hailed on twice while it sat at the transport yard, Ford fixed it before I could buy it...(Minnesota also) wondering if that was one of them...?

Dealers in this area of Texas just run hail damage sales. You get a discount but they don't fix. We had two storms go through our area the last couple of weeks with golf ball and larger sizes. A lot of cars and trucks being discounted.

I guess I’m curious how there was hail damage to the hood only, since like rain hail falls uniformly over open surfaces, meaning shouldn’t there be hail damage on the cab roof as well? Seems unlikely the dealer parked it half in half out of some building, maybe I’m overthinking it… but I’d really look above that cab lol

You're going to have to be a prick. Stop in at the dealer and be loud. Send letters to corporate and the dealer. Leave a bad review on Google and Edmunds. Dealer should have caught this, it's their fault.

They saw the damage 100%, they knew you would take it. Bought a Ram in 2014 and they wanted me to sign all the paperwork when I got their I said where's the truck like I wasn't going to look at it first? being a body shop manager for a dealership they thought I was that stupid, anyway the truck was parked so close to the all you couldn't walk around it, I made them move it and surprise a nice dent in quarter panel, they were SO surprised like they didn't know it was there, I refused the vehicle and got a better model with more option for same price and it being the 3rd vehicle I bought at that dealer it was the last, switched to ford. The hood on the Maverick is aluminum I would want it replaced and I would inspect the shop that's doing the work, they're probably going to have to blend the fenders, depending on the color, so you want a quality shop to do the work.

I had quite a bit of hail damage on my Maverick last spring. Nothing big but lots of little dents. Paintless dent removal was amazing. I'd challenge anybody to find a ding, and original paint job was preserved.

Alum hood would be easier to massaged out, leave original if can, seen some bad hail damage and just amazing results
