What are my options upon delivery of my maverick? It's an XLT hybrid with co pilot 360. I have decided I would rather just keep my f-150. Will the dealership be able to make me an offer if I decline the order so that they can sell it on the lot for more money? Or would I be able to buy it and just go trade it in at another dealership to make some profit (if so, how much profit are we talking after I have to pay tax, title, and license)?

Also, if I have a relative who is interested in it, can I just transfer the order to them? Or would I have to buy it and then sell it to them?

It's too late to cancel it.

1. You can tell your dealer that you refuse to buy it. They will then be able to sell it on their lot. They will not offer you money to reject it.

2. You buy it, pay TTL , and then try to sell it to another dealership. Honestly I doubt it would be worth the hassle, and no idea if you would make any profit.

Your option is pretty simple: don't take it.

As for the other items you asked, talk to your dealership. Some might be willing to play ball on selling it to a family member but they are under no obligation to do so.

Just because you ordered it, still belongs to dealer until you pay them.

can’t transfer order to another person either. You might be able to take your relative with you and see if dealer will sell to them at same price they were going to charge you.

you can always buy it and then sell elsewhere but you would need to cover taxes/fees in addition to the vehicle price. Can be done but what’s the upside to you.

I do understand that this is an option, but I know the dealership is going to make probably $10,000 off of it if I turn it down, I would rather profit off of it than them.

That's what I'm trying to figure out. After tax, title, and license I would be looking at spending $30,000 to buy the truck, I'm not sure if selling it would profit me any at that point considering I would then pay sales tax when selling it

They aren't going to sell it for $10,000 over MSRP. Maybe $1,000 or $2,000.

You could easily make a couple thousand on it if you want to go through the hassle of buying it and titling it. Additional hassle if there's any financing involved. It's probably easiest to sell it to CarMax or Carvana. Or find a member on here who wants it. I bet there are lots. If it's a 2023 or if you got a private offer you're ahead of the game also because the 2024's are more expensive. I bought a 2023 off a member here and gave him an extra $1200. It was still $1500 cheaper than buying the same truck as a 2024.

Then buy it and sell it yourself. You really have no other choices. You either buy it and take the risk of reselling it or you pass on it. Until your name is on the title, it isn't your truck.

I would be wary of buying it expecting to make a profit on a sale. Anyone who wants a Maverick can order a MY24 and probably get delivery in 5-6 months. That's going to put a lid on the price. I tried getting a quote from Carvana and Carmax for an XLT Hybrid that is in transit, and no one will give me a number until I have title and they can look at it. By that time, you've already paid the sales tax, etc.....

If you have a relative who wants it, that might be an option if your state lets you sell it to them without having to pay the sales tax again. That usually depends on how close a relative it is. The other option is to see if the dealer will sell it directly to your relative. If they won't do that, maybe you might be able to get both of your names on the title. Then, depending on your state, you might be able to transfer 100% ownership into your relatives name without paying sales tax again.

Only option is to buy it then sell to Carvana.

I just took possession of my 2023 Ford Maverick XLT Hybrid on 9/22/2023.

My MY23 Maverick XLT Hybrid has these factory options added: Co-Pilot360 + Trailer Tow Hitch + 110V/400W Outlet in Cab

Total out-the-door price is $28,381.46
MSRP is $26,350 which includes delivery charge

I paid MSRP and got the $500 Farm Bureau Rebate off that price. Total out-the-door price includes all taxes, title, license and all other fees. No trade-in I just paid cash from my 2022 Maverick Sale to Carvana.

Sold my MY22 Maverick XLT Hybrid

Carvana is currently offering me $33,270 for the 2023 Maverick or a gain of $4,888.54 over what I paid for it.

I am not selling but want current value for quicken where I track my net worth.

This is the second time I sold a vehicle to Carvana. Previous sale was my 2015 Honda Fit Ex. Both times the process was extremely easy and was paid exactly what they offered.

Ford Maverick I have a build date for my Maverick, but I don't want it anymore.... Carvana XLT Maverick Hybrid 2023-10-01
