Old guy here having a bad time climbing into the Maverick bed.
I Can buy a short tow hitch bumper step to get in when the tailgate is closed.
When open/down it will not work.
Thought about a two foot step stool to carry around but not thrilled with that idea.
Then saw the side rail step and thought maybe adding to one a center mount that would allow it to slide into the tow hitch and the length would just extend to the end of the tailgate length enough so with gate down I could step up and onto the gate.
Does anyone know of a product like this or have seen a product that could work?
Thanks for your help.

Fellow geezer here, the one time I needed to climb in I also had some trouble, but had a two step stool on hand. If I wanted to have something always on hand, I'd carry one of these, I have one at home for getting into tall kitchen cabinets, obviously one step, not two, but fully collapses to flat, would easily tuck behind the back seat for storage.

I'll add that it's also just as easy to put the one step stool on the side of the bed and then just lean in to do whatever you need to, instead of actually climbing aboard. At least for me.

It's low, but a step would make it lower and more natural.

Lots of people complacent and dismissive here that say "it's low enough" without taking others needs into consideration, especially those with disabilities. Not the first time I've seen these ideas threads get :poop: on, so hopefully not this one.

Every truck I've had, I've installed an Amp Research bed step, but there is no option for the Maverick. There are however universal sorts of ladders that could mount to the tailgate. I'd love to see some folks solutions. I'd like to mount something to make it easier as well. Something outside of carrying a step stool around and that saves space.

Weathertech makes a nice strong one. Some of the cheapies will break even if you are only 200# stepping on them. I'm 340#, and this one is secure. Bonus points that it can absorb minor rear impacts. It's called a bump step. Won't help much if the gate is down, but you probably don't need to climb in often with the gate down.
