I like this a lot, I might get it as well.

Just a question, do you know if you plug it into the trailer switch, will the Maverick think it has a Trailer and do something about it? like change some settings somehow?

I've never had a trailer in any of my vehicles, so I don't know about this.

Thanks!
Itll just be the 4 pin side so nothing will change aside from activating the light. It doesn’t default to tow mode when you plug in a trailer.

Watching this thread for opinions. I have been eyeballing the Hitchhammer (not a step). I don't need a step to access the truck, which is one of the things I love, but I am very concerned about getting rear-ended by people on their phones! I have held off because I am unsure if any of these devices will interfere with plate visibility or with the backup sensors.

Would you know if the backup camer would still work on the XL Hybrid Trim?

My only observation, based on having "round" steps in the past, is that they become dangerously slippery when it's wet outside, or when you've got mud on your shoes. My wife almost broke her ankle when she slipped off the step. If I get one (jury's still out on that), it will be a flat top surface, possibly with perforations and "teeth" to grip the sole of the shoe / boot.

Why does everyone think having the hitch absorb the impact is better than the bumper? Your bumper is designed to disburse the impact. The hitch is going to transfer it straight into the frame. Seems like a recipe for frame damage.

Well I have the same style step as Mad876Max, but mine is a little narrower. Also have one on my F250. Less about protecting me and more about insuring the person running into me gets some damage too. The 3' narwhal spike that I really wanted wasn't available, so a hitch step will suffice.

Well i have xlt 4k. But assuming all is equal in that regard (which i expect it would be) the camera still functions with a trailer plugged in. Ive plugged into both the 7 and 4 pin side and it holds true.

So I just added a hitch to prevent the "taps" that happen with parallel parking. Not meant for a rear-ender. I also used a padded tape from Home Depot sold in the HVAC dept. and wrapped the male end of the hitch. No metal to metal clunking from the hitch.

You have that right..and makes the collision for the passengers much more dramatic IMHO
