Lol... Tint your windows because the factory screen isn't bright enough. Okay...

I will be tinting my windows, but if you understood what I wrote above...

1. Learn to quote someone, especially when you want to be snarky to them and act like they don't "understand" (but news flash you are not the only commentator here and clearly people disagree about it being "useless").
2. I didn't quote you because I felt it was the most subjective and opinionated comment on this thread.
3. Yes. Tint your windows. It seems this thread is a very personal and subjective issue that not everyone agrees is a problem. It's obviously a very personal issue for you...

Like I said, same screen/setup in two vehicles and I've had no issues. Window tint is a suggestion.

The problem with the new screens they are using in the Escapes that will likely be carried over to other vehicles as well is the climate controls now lack physical buttons. Anytime a manufacturer does this it gets negative feedback yet they continue to do it. GM even did it with headlight/fog light control and people hate it.

I'm all for the larger screen, but if it's the trade off, then hell no. I'll never buy a vehicle that does that.

I'm also one that has no issues with the screen brightness. Tint your windows.
I don't think you're going to see a 12" touchscreen in the maverick take over all of the physical buttons, but that is the trend the industry is going.

Ford made the 12" screen standard on the Bronco for MY24 and it still has physical buttons for HVAC - running Sync 4 - so it is not out of the realm for Ford to do this.

Also - I am not asking for an updated Sync system - simply just a larger screen that will display the same Sync 2.5 info that is currently displayed on the 8" screen, just on a 10-12" in mostly the same exact spot.

I'm actually pretty shocked that there isn't an aftermarket option. Screens are dirt cheap and it wouldn't be hard to pass the quality of the one currently in the Maverick.

They made rear seat HVAC screens for my Model 3 when there were only a 200k made in the US and we've already passed that for Mavericks so the market exists.

Its weird. I live about as close to the equator as on can get in a place know for its bright sun. I havent had any issue seeing my screen. Infact I find it a bit on the bright side most of the time. Maybe its a non lux XLT Tremor thing??
I have XLT, lux, moonroof - can see the screen just fine.

But - it is kind of shitty. I don't need an interior refresh but I'd certainly welcome an aftermarket replacement that stretches the screen to 10-12" and improves the quality.

There was that radio screen replacement shown on some South American Maverick, but it honestly looked like kind of a cheap bodge job with a big plastic mount pushing it out some 2 inches and covering the radio controls.

1. I did not need to quote you as it was the response was directly after yous. Clearly, you knew who it was for. And your comment was snarky first. So there's that.

2. But I didn't quote you, so... Ironic.

3. I already said I was getting the windows tinted. The issue was dumb comment regarding it as a fix.

I've also got two Fords with similar screens and one is much better than the other. Additionally, a simple search (and not just in this forum) will show tbag I am not the only one that thinks these screens aren't bright enough.

Yea if they kept the Bronco setup instead of the Escape setup that would be great. I wouldn't mind an updated SYNC system. I found it very odd that my '22 Escape had navigation but my '22 Maverick with more options didn't.

@OP, you could always try an anti-glare screen protector to help too. Paired with window tint and a front windshield sunstrip, probably about as good as you are going to get.

For those with non Sync 3 you could improve your life by upgrading to the Sync 3 module
My wife’s Bronco Sport has the non Sync 3 and it has problems all the time
I couldn’t tell you the last time I had an issue with my Lariat
Probably will give her my Sync 3 when I get around to upgrading to Sync 4 (I already have it but I just don’t want to mess with it right now)

I also have Sync3 and I have 20% tint on the front doors, and 5% on a windshield brow. I didn't need to adjust the brightness at all, whatever it comes stock, has been fine.

However I have spent a little (very little) time in a non-Sync3 truck on a sunny day without tinted windows. The standard screen is harder to read and the touch sensitivity is crappy, too.

It would be expensive but doable to upgrade to Sync3. It would take a Sync3 APIM (maybe you could get one without nav from another crazy person who is upgrading to add nav?), touch screen and configuration in Forscan. Thread about the Sync3 APIM swap here - I didn't read this whole thread, but perhaps someone in that topic also swapped their screen. https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/forum/threads/how-to-sync-3-4-swap-for-non-sync-3-xl-xlt.11860/

BTW do not try to swap to Sync4 without understanding the limitations. If you read that whole thread you'll see what I'm talking about. Sync3 though, is totally doable.

No issues with screen brightness in bright sunny Georgia either. I can see the screen with polarized sunglasses on the brightest days. I have a non-lux lariat which should be the same as the XLT/XL models. Nothing other than factory rear privacy glass.

Anyone who has problems with a dim screen either has the settings wonky or has a defective unit or light sensor. Some have noted a system glitch where it doesn't go full bright until you dim all the way and then go back up. I might have experienced that in the 1st week of ownership, but it hasn't been an issue since.

I think its fine myself. Would be alot cooler if these screens folded away when not needed. Really the gauge screen does everything the driver needs unless your mapping. Atleast it doesnt have any glare to it or really anything inside the cabin. I just prefer to keep my eyes focused outside, not just for safety but for seeing the world.

I think anyone fixating on the center screen ought not to be behind the wheel of a vehicle!

Zero issues with my screen, plenty bright enough but I have 25% tinted front windows and no sunroof. I did buy a glass screen protector off of amazon for it and it made the screen completely unusable so that lasted less than a day. $10 down the drain....
