Shuddering while accelerating.

I started getting some vibrations when accelerating , at 1st I thought the tires where out of balance. But the I noticed it stopped when I let off the gas. Took it it in for service and it has a bad CV axel....at 8K miles !!! And of course the part is on backorder just like the auto headlight sensor...urgh. I have also had the grabbing brakes 4 times....anyone else having any of these problems?...starting to wonder if I should bail on this thing 😔

Hi, new to the site. Not only do I own 2 Mavericks, Im a sales manager at a dealership. I have a 1st Edition and an XL, both hybrids.
I first started to notice the vibration in the pedal around 3,000 miles. I repeatedly told the service department there was an issue, but they told me the tires and wheels were balanced perfectly. After I don’t know how many times of it being in the shop, they finally figured out it needed an axle. They figured out once the vibration got so violent, you couldn’t drink anything while driving or it would spill all over you. They ordered the right axel, which was on national back order and took almost a month to come in, they installed it yesterday. Guess what? They should have ordered the left one at the same time. Now I have to wait another 3-4 weeks for the other side and still have to drive with the shutter. I will admit it’s half as bad as it was before they replaced the right side.
I wish I had found this forum sooner, I now have 43k on my 1st edition. Only took the dealership 40,000 miles to admit I was right.

You guys keep say axle. I will assume the CV joint went bad. NOT the axle as its a piece of steel with splines. There is an inner CV joint and an outer one. I will assume the outer joint is the one going bad? Did you guys look and see of the rubber boot was leaking grease out of it? Was the rubber boot cut? Sounds like they are ordering a complete axle with inner and out joints all attached already. Maybe just replace the bad CV joint. They MUST sell them separately.

Now i could be wrong and the axle itself is some how bending? Doesn't seem plausible .

They told me they ordered the cv axle...not cv joint...but who knows, as long as it gets fixed ....someday 🤬

It may not be the joints that went bad in this assembly, no one has ever presented a tear down inspection of the entire assembly from one of these Hybrid CV axles. Could be an issue with twisting shafts, broken splines, metallurgy - who knows.

And most no one outside dedicated CV axle assembly facilities rebuilds these anymore, so forget the notion of someone buying a "joint" and fixing it, at least not fixing it correctly and cheaper than replacing it.

They told me they ordered the cv axle...not cv joint...but who knows, as long as it gets fixed ....someday 🤬
it is the cv joints that go bad, but they are part of the axel.

Is this problem mostly with hybrids and with those who like lift kits in their AWD or do non modified AWD's have this issue as well?

Well it looks like they ONLY sell the entire assembly with axle and joints as an entire unit. BUT I HIGHLY doubt the axle itself is the issue. its most likely the joints which have many bearings and machine surfaces and grease. The joints can be removed , I have changed dozens of them in the past. They are not welded on. BUT if ford doesn't sell them it doesn't really matter.

My truck has been sitting in the dealership service lot for a month. When mine went bad, I immediately called Detroit customer service and open the case. They made sure that I had a loaner vehicle the entire time my parts finally came in and they replaced them yesterday. I will be picking up my Mouse on Monday.
