Yep, but for us not-100% disabled veterans who didn't retire, we are due nothing after two years. That said, Ford had a random $750 rebate for me when I bought it.

Go down to the dealership and talk in person. I dealt with their Prattville branch and my experience with the Maverick was textbook. They even sent me a video of the truck after it cleared inspection.

If anything, they still owe you $500. Go pick up the check.
I'd argue they owe more than 500 as that truck doesn't exist without his order. At least half the profits

It's theft plain and simple.

That is just about what I did. For the 7 months of waiting to be picked for production, I didn’t bother the dealer and I didn’t hear from them either. No problem, I don’t need any hand holding.

But once my Maverick was produced and shipped, I started contacting my sales person regularly. My reason was to make it less likely for my Maverick to be “accidentally” sold to someone else.

But of course, I never said that to the dealer. I tracked the rail shipment on my own. I said things like “I’m so excited”. “Can you give me the rail car number?” "Where is it now?" “Can’t wait until it is here.” “When will PDI be done?” “When will the PDI be done, and what time is the soonest I can pick up my truck?” And you’d better believe, I was there a few minutes before the agreed upon earliest pick up time.

By then, they were very aware that I was aware. And to their credit, they stuck to the agreed price and didn’t apply any mandatory add ons. Just a pitch for extended warranty, which I was expecting and which I declined. There was at least one person physically present waiting to buy the truck in case I walked away from the deal.

Unfortunately it is too late for OP, but my advice to anyone with a Maverick order is this: Do not rely on the dealer to contact you. Keep in touch with Ford chat. Check the production status yourself. When it is built, track the rail car yourself. At that point, start contacting your dealer frequently and make sure to pick up your Maverick on the first day (preferably the first hour) it is ready for you.

Most dealers are honest. But if you get a scummy individual, or even bad dealership management, don’t make it easy for them to sell your long awaited truck to someone else for a marked up price.
Is ford chat same as calling FCS / ford customer service

That he's not entitled to. But the dealer ate more than the $500 in resolving it. So, everyone is happy.

We don't know this, it's not clear. He stated in his resolution that he got closer to his original price, and when I tried to clarify he got it for $2k under MSRP, he stated again that he got it for "his price." I'm thinking he still paid a markup. Probably was $5k over and then the dealer did him a solid and gave him the $2k Lux package for no charge.

It was sold out from under me without any contact from Long Lewis
This happens far more than anyone wants to admit any time you see a green sticker and a dealer saying the customer walked away.

The individual that ordered the vehicle (the customer) should have to sign off w/ ID just like when ordered before selling to a third party.

This whole process baffels me🤔

When you received the status update from Ford that included a VIN # you should have been able to track it through the Ford website on it's whereabouts. I hope it's not true that your Ford dealership sold your vehicle to someone else but based on some of the replies here that sounds like that's what happened. It wouldn't surprise me if someone came into the dealership and offered them $10K over MSRP and that they couldn't resist. I don't know all the details but it does sound like some very shady business practices at that Long Lewis Ford store.

This is probably not for everyone but I highly recommend the Ford dealership in Granger IA. They were very good in responding to my emails requesting status on my 2022 Maverick. Ford couldn't produce my 2022 so Granger called me last Sept and let me know that I needed to reorder a 2023 MY. When I picked it up in June the process was so transparent. They did not try to upsell me on anything other than just to tell me about an extended warranty. No pressure whatsoever. The finance person said that they have customers from all 50 states. Apparently many folks fly in to get their vehicles. I drove from the Chicago area. Why ? Because at the time they were offering a good chunk off MSRP, when local dealers were asking up to 10K over. Not sure if they are still offering that deal. Car buying experiences at other dealerships have been mediocre at best, but at Granger Ford, it was great.

Granger Ford is a long time sponsor here. They've sold a lot of folks ESP warranties at $50 over cost. @Granger Ford has a very good reputation here.

Think about it - if a dealer contacts the customer (say, over the phone) and he says "no thanks," is he realistically going to go in with an ID and sign a form to make it official? And should the vehicle be held hostage until he does?

If won't work.

Go to a large dealer with a good reputation! I used Chapman Ford out if PA... No money down, exactly how i configuref it... 9 month wait.. under invoice price.... and I never even finished returning the paperwork with my signature. Forgot about it until I saw Ford emails with the truck status.

I read all this with interest-I lost my order too. The appeal of the huge profit to be made over MSRP is just too great for some dealers. When we ordered, last year,we were guaranteed sale at MSRP where they still make a decent profit, but nothing like selling for $8-10K over MSRP which is what they are going for-mine sold in 3 days.I emailed Ford but they cant help -the dealers are independent is the standard reply with almost any dealer problem.
but I was lucky-able to buy a EB AWD instead of the ordered hybrid--for $25.700 out the door-reported this on forum earlier--I got great discounts inclining a $1000 military discount
Note: any vet can still get a $500 mil discount from Ford, not the dealer
Who got out in the last two years otherwise you don't qualify for the Veterans discount from Ford.
