I agree. I had a 2009 Fit, traded it in for a 2020 after 329,000 miles. I love my new Fit, but I can't carry all the equipment I use for my hobby and have anyone else in the car, let alone bring someone else with me. The Maverick will fit that bill with the bed being large enough to carry my equipment and still have room for several people in the cabin.
Basically the same for me. I just outgrew the Fit since I need to transport passengers in the back more regularly now. Also I'm getting old so the ride height of the mav is perfect.

In December of '16 we bought our '17 VW jetta for $12,100 (<$14k OUT THE DOOR). Not sure how much MSRP, but at the time you could get VWs for nothing because of Dieselgate. Nearly 7yrs and 80k miles later, nothing but routine maintenance and we get >40mpg in mixed driving. Looks like the same vehicle (different body style, but same powertrain at options list) starts at >$25k now. Absolutely crushed it on total cost of ownership.
Excellent timing. I picked up a 2004 Pontiac (Toyota) vibe AWD with 2K miles for about $10K from auction. Minimal troubles. It will turn 20 in a few months. TCO is awesome.

Can anyone else name an entry level product from any mainstream brand that's been this affordable, practical, reliable, efficient, good looking, fun to drive? While also having this much character? I've never seen another affordable vehicle that has this much passion put into it.

I've been in civics, in Kia Rios, Toyota tercels, cruzes, fiestas. There's always this underlying message of "We don't really care about you" that you get from something like a Corolla or a civic. It's a "They'll take whatever we give them" mentality. The maverick is the first entry level vehicle I've ever experienced that doesn't feel or act like an entry level vehicle, that's a major reason why it's sucessful imo. The efficiency and versatility is great, but it's also an affordable vehicle that values you as it's owner.
The first thought that came to my mind was my 1970 Ford Maverick! LOL Yes, my very first car was a Maverick, and I loved that thing. I never had a single issue with it, it ran great, got terrific mileage, and had great resale value. I'm not sure if the 1970 version was the first (in fact, I doubt it), but it was one of the best cars ever made, IMO. Now that my husband and I are in our 70s and retired, we decided to trade in both our vehicles and get only one, a truck because my husband HAS to have a truck! Then the Maverick came out, and both of us immediately gravitated to it. Ours is the '22 Lariat model, gas engine (not hybrid) and we're very, very pleased with it. We just hit 5,000 miles and believe it or not, the gas mileage improved! (I know nothing really about cars, but I think maybe 5,000 miles might be the "break-in" point.) Anyway, I couldn't resist replying to your post. Happy Mavericking!!!

I was going to say the Arcimoto FUV, but I just checked their prices. Almost going out of business must have scared them. They were cheaper when they first came out, but they only offered them in a handful of States and mine wasn't one of them. Would have been fun, but...

Up until about 2012 a base model club cab full size pickup with an auto trans and V8 was about the best bang for the buck and very reliable. You could give them to a work crew who would beat the hell out of them for 12-15 years and 220,000 miles, rinse and repeat. Ford, Chevy & Dodge all competed for fleet trucks and all three brands were normally within $200 of each other, and because they were fleet trucks, the buyers only cared about the bottom line and reliability. I used to be able to buy these for $20,000 all day long. The best brand was generally the one who had the last makeover.

Then my 2015 Silverado cost $30,000, and my 2022 F150 Powerboost hybrid cost $45,000.

both of those seem low. you used to be able to get the F-150 powerboost in XLT, but now it's lariat and up. you can't touch one for 45k now, more like 65k if you want a 4x4. the hybrid 3.5 is easily optioned above $70k.

at any rate, back onto the topic, none of those are entry level vehicles. not even the XL / WT trims.

original Ranger springs to mind.
This is my ‘97 Ranger I sold in ‘02. It found me last week in a parking lot. Ridden hard and put out wet it is still in one piece. I bought it at Courtesy Ford for $7,700 new in Portland Oregon via FAX, they drove it to me! Shipped to Honolulu via Seattle in ‘99. Looked like a pretzel off the matson ship😂

Not sure it’s priced at “entry level” anymore.

Absolutely not. The Maverick is a new model for Ford. Ford is an automotive manufacture that has had and is having consistent issues with recalls and reliability. The Maverick is not a tried and true tested vehicle yet.

I know this isn't going to be the most popular opinion but the Honda Civic Sport starting at $25K is leaps and bounds above the Maverick. Not just on reliability but fit and finish, interior materials quality, and interior passenger space are all above or on par with the Maverick.

Come at me bro's.........
