This is a funny thread. You have the ones I dont need them because I can see great. Makes zero sense as its for the OTHER drivers to see you. Your eyesight is irrelevant. Reminds me of this young guy I spoke to, said i don't turn my lights on till its full dark. I can see fine before that. NEVER considering the fact that the lights on let OTHER drivers see YOU.

Then we have the ones. Hey LED are over a grand I don't want to get stuck with a big bill. Well another poster said the DRL use the high beam bulb at low voltage.Assuming that is correct well you use high beams much less under driving so lowers chance burning out low beam light which is on way more than high beam. So worry about bulb burnout is way less.

I have driven for years without any DRL and I have been fine. Same can be said for wearing seat belts.I have never been in a crash there for I don't need those silly belts. lol.

Motorcycles have had the headlights on always a long time. They did that to sell more motorcycle headlights. those bas#$%#. Conspiracy of head light makers.

Nanny state people. For DRL really. Plenty to complain about the nanny state but this isn't it. Same kind of talk when seat belts were made mandatory.

The LED bulbs can be replaced, and honestly the chances of the entire headlight/taillight assembly going bad is low as it is.

If you feel like you need to worry about DRL’s killing your headlights then I guess I can’t do anything but respect it but the chances of them failing are low enough that I am willing to accept it
The Maverick (and almost all OEM LED headlights) don't use replaceable bulbs. They are sealed units.

Less safe? How is not having them less safe?

Before answering my question here is my background, I am a 20+ year crash reconstructionist and have never seen a crash caused by lack of drl.
I am assuming that you have no data showing how many crashes were avoided because of DRLs. :)

Visibility scenarios would be drivers inatention, not vehicle safety. Pay attention and no drl are needed.

It is like saying selt belts save lives, they do not, they reduce injury.
It is the other drivers not paying attention that is the problem. DRLs can help with that. They are not there to help the driver of the vehicle they are in pay attention.

As for saving lives vs. reducing injuries, it sure seems like some of those reductions may have been fatalities being reduced to "just" injuries.

So they are there so the other driver, drl driver, can just lolly gag and not pay attention to their surroundings?

What is needed to cause a fatality from a crash, injury.

That's weird because my XLT they are always on.
Maybe the person driving mine to railcar, turned it off, or the dealer did.

How can there be data for an event that never occurred? One can only guess, and that isn't true data.

We don't like to let data get in the way of our opinions!
Show true data, not pulled out of thin air, for an event that never happened. It can not be done because there wouldn't have been a crash to record to get the data you question.

I guess you missed the smiley face. That guess is just as accurate as assuming that just because lack of DRLs has never (in your experience) been cited as the cause of a crash means that having DRLs does no good.

I cannot control what other drivers do. I can only take as many precautions as I can.

Your last sentence here implies that you agree that reducing injuries reduces fatalities.
