This is a point that should be taken strongly.

Additionally:

Using Eco-mode does make a difference. Not just in your fuel economy.

Using the brake coach is a really great way to learn how the hybrid drives. It (quickly) teaches you how to coast and how to use the regenerative braking to control the truck.

Once you understand the hybrid and how it drives you can easily beat the EPA ratings. My highest is 109 MPG, when really, really, trying. I regularly break ~55 MPG just driving around town.
Thanks so much, i appreciate it a lot. I hear its annoying swapping over to eco every time though, but I will definitely look more into it and obviously use the coach and learn that as well, but drive like a normal car to learn the truck. Thank you again!

Congratulations!

Your hybrid uses regenerative braking a lot, instead of the brake pads/rotors) for slowing down hills & in traffic. This will tremendously save brake pad wear & tear, so that you should get at least 100k miles before needing new brake pads/rotors. Probably much more than 100k. Some Ford Hybrid owners have reported going 200k miles before needing brakes/pads. Your gas engine runs a lot less, too, so oil & filter & air filter changes are not necessary nearly as often. The truck will tell you when to change oil, based on several factors, including how many total miles were electric - deducting those from total miles driven. If you don't drive much, change the oil once a year.

Enjoy.
Agree that Maverick has been low maint. so far. Almost 7 months, 42 mpg over 7k mi. Oil life still says 50%. The mpg monitor is usually about 2-3 mpg too high, but it's still really good.

Based on the above post, I'd say a good tip is don't get suckered into a Maintenance contract at the Dealer (Like I did). For anyone like the OP who is a pre-buyer, I say focus on the transaction side of things. Make sure you ready with good financing or cash. They're gonna try to sell you extended warranties and maintenance contracts. Maybe research those before hand so you know what may apply to your situation. Then you'll have the knowledge to negotiate or confidence to say no. I may still go after an extended warranty, perhaps an online dealer. I think my 5 year, $2200 Maintenance contract will be a bit of a bust, but we'll see.

My best tip is, be sure to tell your spouse that you love them more, because they might doubt it seeing you smiling while you're in your new truck!

Enjoy it!
I ended up buying a 23 Bronco Sport for my wife... She was to jealous I had a new truck...

May I humbly advise that you keep your eyes on the road and your hands upon the wheel?

There is nothing particularly different about driving a hybrid. The braking coach is slightly amusing but not materially important. Getting the best ever MPG is not a worthy goal. Just drive and be amazed at the result! Please don't let distracted driving contribute to smashing your lovely Maverick (or anything else).

If you don't keep your hands on the wheel, your Maverick will be displeased and beep and flash at you, and you don't want that do you?

The two most unusual things for me;
1) I could not tell when the engine was running - it doesn't matter.
2) When in park, depressing the gas pedal does nothing.

I hope you enjoy your Maverick!!

Hey everyone, should be hopefully receiving my maverick hybrid next month and I have never owned a hybrid.

Currently driving a 2009 ford focus and was just curious if there are any tips I should know about? The closest thing to driving this was a CR-V hybrid and I loved the feature where it automatically brakes for you almost to a complete stop, does this truck have that too?

Thanks in advance, and sorry for a stupid question. I have not been able to test drive one.
The “L” button on the shifter dial is your best friend for in-town mpg improvements

What does that stand for / do?
It’s a button in the center of the shift dial. On a normal transmission it keeps it in a lower gear but the hybrids ecvt is completely different and it engages the energy recovery motor (a small secondary electric motor) more effectively. I was worried about it at first because it’s hard on regular transmissions, but reportedly no problem with the ectv. It also acts like an engine brake as it slows you faster than coasting, so helps save the brake pads a lot of wear and tear. It took me a while to get used to it. On the other hand, if you just drive normally and don’t try to hypermile it, you’re still going to get excellent mileage. I’m a little OCD so always trying to get top mpg and “beat” my old score. Regardless of how you do it you’re going to love the truck, enjoy!

Picked mine up today. Don't get so caught up in staying electric that you get a line behind you 😅

I read every single post and not one told you the Mav Hybrid is a POS. The dead battery, the recalls, the shudders, the hood vibrates, the thin cheap paint, no good stock Continentals, the freezing infotainment, and on, and on.

Sell it me and because it's a POS and you're so far away, I will have to give you $5k less than what you're paying for it. Let me know who I make the check out to.
