I love all the high-tech silliness of my new truck and can only imagine how cool a new Lexus or Mercedes Benz might be.

What has impressed me the most is how good-looking the blue/brown interior of my Lariat is. I really expected to just tolerate the interior colors but it turns out that I really like them.

I use the keypad all the time but, I never thought I would.

The most use my Maverick gets is going the grocery store. The cross-traffic alert has turned out to be great in a busy parking lot.

The greatest surprise has been the way the hybrid has changed my driving habits. I never thought about gas milage and now I am very conscious of my breaking and a little lighter on the throttle.

1. The ACC and lane assist have made my monthly 900 mile RTs an enjoyable experience. Probably won’t own another vehicle without it!
2. After driving my F250 for a couple months before I got my 22 Mav, the turning radius and parking is astounding and a dream!
3. The airflow when the moonroof and rear window are open is amazing and the mpg is even better!
4. Way too fun to drive - hence 27,000 miles!
5. Koji is loving how much extra room he has in the back now that I put everything in the bed🤣
6. If the resale value wasn’t as good as it is there is no way I’d be trading my 22 for my 23 that was delivered yesterday.
7. And everything else already mentioned!

I actually expected it to be way cheaper feeling and working than it really is. So I guess my expectations were met across the board.

To answer seriously though, I would say the absolute utility of it. I was able to haul a washer, dryer, and lawnmower in one trip safely.

Everyone talks about the A/C being cold. That's not the only difference.

There is another facet to it. Like other Ford Hybrids, it is electric. Sitting in a hot parking lot waiting for someone to finish shopping, or (in the past) waiting to pick up kids from school, is no longer a strain.

The truck will cycle the ICE on and off as needed to keep the battery charged to run the A/C. You never have to worry about the truck overheating trying to keep the A/C cool. I first experienced this difference in my 2013 C-Max hybrid in the 115-120 degree temperatures in Lake Havasu City, AZ. I couldn't sit parked in my old Chevy S-10 for over 5 minutes without it starting to overheat. No overheating worries at all now with electric A/C.

Clothes hanger that I leave in there in case Koji wants to do pull-ups on our long trips🤣

Hybrid mpg was far and above the EPA window sticker estimates. Over 28k miles measured at the tank my average is 41.2 mpg combined. Happy with that.
Yeah, our average got as low as 34 mpg that's to this last terrible winter in SLC that wouldn't end. But it's already over 40 mpg now that it's warmed up. Wouldn't be surprised if it's averaging at least 42-43 going into next fall. My personal best was 92.8 mpg for one 5 mile trip.

It really is impressive how well the Ford team combined performance and fuel efficiency on the hybrid. I'm a feather foot, usually don't like accelerating hard for longevity reasons, we keep our cars like 15 years so I don't want to push them hard. But whenever I have to accelerate a little harder, like push the gas pedal a quarter of the way down or something, I'm always pleasantly surprised at how punchy it is.

It may "only" be a 2.5 4 cyl, but it feels considerably ballsier than the 2020 Tahoe with a 5.3 V8 that we rented. That thing was a joke compared to our maverick and 2017 explorer. Everytime you hit a bump, the suspension would "pogo" up and down a few times, you had to basically floor it to get up to speed, and the CEL came on.

How do you like the hard roll up cover?? Trying to decide between that and the tri fold.

So far I like it, gives me security without blocking rear window. It has not leaked in light rain, no heavy rain yet, did not leak during car wash.

Theirs a lot I can say I like about this truck as I get used to it after less than a week. The color which is Area 51, the ride, all of the Co-pilot 360 features (and I’m happy that a full size spare was part of the package), the amount of space, and the utility of the back seat area.

Simple, but one of the things I love and did not know was there on m y Lariat Hybrid - With key in my pocket, just stick my hand behind the door handle and it opens all the doors without touching anything.

Final surprise is how well the hybrid Lariat does in towing. I constantly tow a 12' trailer with a 54" zero turn mower, walk-behind mower, weed-eaters, etc. and do that twice a week for a 100 mi RT each and have averaged 29.5 mpg with LOTS of power. Hardly know the trailer and equipment are there.

Same with me ... XLT ecobooost. Love it. Old Dog...
I am really impressed with the fuel economy. Up here in Canada after putting on 1600km in a week and a half I am getting 4.8 L / 100 km , which translates to about 49 mpg for my American friends. This is the biggest wow factor so far. I also am impressed with how solid the truck is.....no rattles at all. When closing doors, or the hood or the tailgate....it just seems solid and well built. I am loving my cyber orange hybrid ( okay, I'll call it yellow!)

It’s as long as our minivan, but feels more manageable to drive/park. And the interior gives us enough space to take my family of 5 on short drives.
It wasn’t exactly what I wanted (and still wish I could have), but it has grown on me in the last year. The value and practicality are almost too good to be true.

We've had a couple complaint threads so let's hear some unexpected positive things that surprised you about your Mav. Not your general likes, but something that exceeded what you expected.

For me:

Excellent AC
Interior roominess despite small size
Quiet and smooth ride (this was probably my #1 surprise, saw many complaints on this one but my XLT hybrid is very smooth and quiet at highway speeds)
I agree with you on ride, quietness and smoothness. I had a Escape before this that wasn't even close to my Maverick which also has a much better stance than the Escape.
