A Grand Too Far

When we were at the dealer last month picking up our new XLT hybrid, I told our sales agent to schedule an appointment for me on July 17th so I could order a 2024. I was hoping to possibly pick up another one with a few more bells and whistles than ours and either trade our '23 straight across for the '24 or let them buy it from us when it arrived. Well, after seeing what's come out regarding pricing for the 24's, it looks like just duplicating what we already have would cost about three grand more that ours did (almost $1500 price MSRP increase plus the hybrid now a $1500 option). Suddenly the numbers don't add up, because it looks like the price increase brings the truck up to what the market has been saying it's worth, and I doubt the dealer would offer much of a premium. Guess I'll wait to see what happens with the '25's. Anyone else changing their plans due to these new prices?

I was thinking about a 2024 order but added the lux package plus a color change one that cost extra. . I have a xlt hybrid build july 10 so I will get a 2023. I was thinking of a upgrade too. But NOT now. No way I could sell my 2023 xlt hybrid for anywhere near the cost of a 2024 with those adds. So I will be happy with what I get in 2023.

I did notice for 2024 they went back to the 65 35 percent gas hybrid ratio.They are supposed to be at 50 50 now. I wonder if they are right and the hybrid will slow down in sales. Guess will see.

Well one of two things will happen. 2024 Maverick production will sell out in 5-ish days or it won't. I'm really curious to see how that goes. I'm just watching the game from the sidelines, because I have my eco in the driveway. I'm curious to know if the extra factory shift makes the ecoboost an easily obtained commodity in CY 2024.

As for the hybrid, yea, it's no longer the "Let's steal an underpriced 40+ mpg truck from the idiots at Ford before they get a clue". But even with the price rises, if the hybrid issues are worked out, it's still kind of a bargain - maybe no longer a steal, but a bargain. If they had a betting line in Vegas, I'd put down real money that hybrid production sells out in a week or less.

Yeah, and it will bite them in the ass. Overpriced F150s and Mach Es have already started to pile up on lots.
I foresee huge discounts on those models in the near future. You're not making money with vehicles sitting on lots for 6 months at a time.

They have to make up for those loses somewhere.
The huge price hike of the Maverick is a start. Getting more out of the Hybrid will add more to the bottom line, since it should be cheaper to build.

We have one more to buy in the pipeline if at 23 pricing, and this family is likely done. We've purchase 3 already. It's called CYA. Order more than one from different dealers, if you actually want one.

It's a cool little truck, but not worth the new asking prices for less included options.

The increase in 24 prices should tend to increase the value of your 23, right? The delta may be smaller than you think. You just have to find someone offering a fair price on your 23. There's a dealer in Iowa mentioned in another thread selling 24 Mavericks for $1K under MSRP. Ford says the run cycle on the 24's will be for 13 months, Oct 23 - Oct 24, so barring some unknown, there should not be the same constraints as this past year.

This is the only one that is actually listed for $15k below MSRP.

That's only after what they claim is a mod package (lift, wheels, etc.) worth $26,145 over the MSRP from Ford. The $15,000 is actually only $13,000 + $2,000 when you finance through them. So, really, it's $13,145 over the base truck from Ford before mods, with a potential for $2,000 off of that. It's also a 2022 in July 2023, if still available.

Their factory (non modified) trucks are no more than a few thousand off MSRP.

It's a 2022. Something tells me there might be a little more wiggle room on that price...

Easy you two. Lets not bring facts into the equation here. That would ruin the narrative that F-150s and Mach-Es are pilling up on dealer lots and that the hybrid Mav is doomed!!!

Local dealer here has 7 Bronco's on the front line. I have never seen that many on the lot at one time since the Bronco came out. Curious to see how long they last. Never seen a Maverick on the lot, never.
