Ford just why? When I want my doors locked I will lock them. It's nuts to not be able to walk away without the doors locking.

I prefer it. You don't have a keyfob that auto unlocks when you touch the door handle?

The Escape I traded in had that feature, but the doors still wouldn't lock unless you pressed the button.

Maybe you should look into getting an Escape since Ford has no standards :ROFLMAO:
(And I'm not picking on FORD... I bash every auto manufacturer equally)

That said, for some reason the 12v Cigarette lighter in the Escape would shut off moments after the vehicle was shut off but the Maverick can't make up it's mind if it wants to or not. All day driving around and it does it every time, but then I get home and it wants to stay on. Why FORD? Why? It's a cigarette lighter ffs... shut it off. Same with the damn USB ports. Now I gotta hardware my damn dashcam

Jokes on me for thinking they would use the same thing for literally almost the same vehicles (Escape, Bronco Sport, Maverick).... nope.

*Edit
They are not auto locking.

I want the 12 volt power point to stay on for a while. I want my dash cam to run when I park at various stores, and when I park at the trail head. I don’t mind mind unplugging the dash cam when I park the truck at home.

Just about everyone here in the forum was saying that the power point stayed hot only for 15 minutes after turning off the truck. I’ve seen a few lately that say 45 minutes, so maybe Ford made a change. How long does yours stay on?

I’m looking forward to testing it for myself when my Maverick comes next month.

There might be a way to turn it off. I have an older Ford that automatically locked all the doors when you put it in drive. There was some key on key off drill that permanently deactivated it.

My 2022 Hybrid Lariat Lux does Not have autolocking doors, and I would like to have them.

Was this added on the 2023's?

I checked at 45 min. and it was still on. If you want parking mode, you should hardwire.

One reason is because there is no change in voltage, so instead of running whatever feature mode your dashcam has for parking mode, like low bit rate, it will just run as if it's drawing full power and kill your battery. Parking mode should use less power because it uses a lower rate of recording or whatever sensors it has to detect motion (if you opt for that mode). Even using it with a voltage cut-off let's say at 11.8, running the dash cam at full power will drain your battery much quicker and usually you will get less parking mode from it where it cuts off earlier because the voltage and battery drain over longer periods of using it that way.

Either way, I'm going to be hardwiring it. I have a battery pack I need to hook up and this was just a temporary setup to get it up and running immediately.

This makes me wonder. I didn't think mine had it either and I just checked. Nope. Doors stay unlocked. OP got me on a rant... I have a '22 Lariat Lux EB.

I do still wish it had auto lock though - at least as an option in the settings menu.

I gotta be honest... I've seen some weird posts on vehicle forums but so far, this one is taking the cake. Like someone asking if they can drain their oil through the dipstick housing, the jellyfish launcher, the tailgate lock, and now this...

lol. w.t.f.

Mine doesn’t lock automatically. I leave it unlocked all night in the garage.

Maybe its a setting somewhere, my 22 does not lock automatically. I either push the lock button or the keyfob lock button, also when I walk up to it (keyfob in pocket) I touch the door handle and it unlocks. Check manual to see what applies to yours.

Thanks for the time info, Ford must have made a change. I hope it applies to hybrids too.

I don’t want parking mode, I want continuous recording anytime they are plugged in. I’ve inadvertently left 2 cams running for three days without running down the battery on my older Ford.

But you are right about the Hybrid, its 12 volt battery is notoriously weak. I won’t use the Ford Pass app, and I will turn the modem off in settings. With those power drains eliminated, I am hopeful that I can run my cams a for a few hours with the engine off. I might have to set the extended time in Forscan.

My back up plan, if needed, is to unplug the cams from the power point and plug them into a power bank that I will charge periodically and leave under the rear seats.

Yea even parking mode with a voltage cutoff on my Escape Hybrid sent it into constant deep sleep. FORD refused to replace the battery and I noped out of the whole thing for this EB Mav. I even tried it with no parking mode and was still going into deep sleep - even after they recharged it - TWICE!

Totally understand what you are after and I know some people do it that way. I'd still opt for a voltage cutoff though. But since it's essentially the same platform, I think I was lucky to get 10 minutes sometimes, and after very long drives it would get me around an hour and a half. Never once got the 2 hours I wanted.

Another issue was when it would switch to EV driving, occasionally that voltage drop would change the recording. I was constantly getting errors and short clips, as well as even entire drives where my rear camera wasn't working. I tried everything short of replacing the dashcam (which, btw works fine in my Mav EB the same as it did in 2 previous vehicles before FORD's hybrid nonsense). So... yea... just a disaster. That said - it worked better plugged into the cig lighter. No issues there just couldn't get power when the vehicle was off. That's why I'm so confused about it doing it randomly in the Mav lol. Make up your mind!

There are more threads on the subject here on this forum than there were on the Escape, but all the "how to's" I've seen seem to be incorrect for hardwiring using parking mode, and for your use, like you said it's all over the place. Anywhere from short to longer periods.

It's just never easy...

Sorry... thread hijacked :ROFLMAO:

It's not a cigarette lighter, it is a cigarette lighter style power port. You may not want whatever you have plugged in to shut off because you stop driving. If you want to turn it off when exiting truck double tap the lock button on door or double tap key fob lock. It will also turn off after 30 minutes OR when soc of 12v reads 12.1v (depending on what else is on the open circuit reading of 12v the BCM could read 12.1 when 12v at rest would read 12.3 or more. This is why sometimes it will shut power point off and other times it will not). I started to purchase the $70 smokers package which would support a higher amperage through it's actual real life cigarette lighter port AND PRESUMABLY shut off always when ignition is turned off. I cannot verify this because I did not purchase that option.

I wish my '22 Hybrid Lariat/Lux DID have automatic door locks when you park and walk away. The '14 Impala we have does that, and my wife has forgotten to lock the Maverick a couple of times when she drove it... Fortunately it was still there when she finished shopping...

Like another person said, it only autolocks when you start driving. I leave my doors unlocked a lot and they have NEVER autolocked when I get out of the truck. This was the case on my XLT EB I sold, and is the case on an XLT hybrid we have, as well as a Lariat Hybrid.
