Curious to see who has purchased the extended warranty for their Maverick? Did you go thru dealership or somewhere else?

Yes. Went through dealership but had to haggle to get a decent price. 5/60 with zero deductible and rental coverage. I think it’s worth it, especially the hybrid.

Word of advice. All of those extended warranties are 75% above cost to the dealer. That’s what the finance office at a dealership told me after I kept telling him. He kept lowering the price of the extended warranty and he wouldn’t take the answer no. I finally said there must be a huge markup in the price if you started here and brought it down to there. He was mad, but he finally said 75%. I never buy an extended warranty.

Why?
1. Overpriced as stated above
2. The extended warranty overlaps the 3/36 warranty. If you buy a 5/60 warranty, you are really buying a 2/24 warranty, but the dealer won’t tell you that.
3. You’re paying tax on that extended warranty in the loan amount.
4. You’re paying for interest on that loan amount
5. I normally only keep a vehicle for 3-4 years.
6. Extended warranties don’t cover bumper to bumper. You have to read the fine print to see what’s included and excluded.
7. There may be a deductible.
8. The money you save by not buying an extended warranty can be saved for a future down payment on the next vehicle.
9. If you keep up with the maintenance, you’re vehicle should remain trouble free.
10. If you feel a need, most credit unions sell extended warranties for Pennie’s on the dollar compared to dealers.

I'll decide on a warranty when the factory one expires. Heck, might not even have the truck by then, anything can happen. I sure don't want to buy a warranty for someone else or if it's totaled for example.
I’m pretty sure you have to buy the extended warranty thru a Ford dealer within the first year of ownership.

Never.

Warranty companies exist to make money, like every other company. They do it by using data to back up what they charge you for the warranty, and they plan on making money off you.

What you think they will cover and what they actually do cover will make you angry, what they can use to get out of paying (or only partially paying when they do) is infuriating. Take the money you would have spent on the warranty and put it in an emergency repair fund, on top of the $200/month you put into the maintenance account.

You had a warranty that paid for itself? Congrats, your car was crappier than average.

no, I refused the warranty. As mentioned above, it overlaps with the 3 years manufacturer warranty. Also it doesn't cover any wear items. I'm sure when the time comes dealer will try everything they can to lump stuffs into the wear items category. Good luck getting coverage on anything related to brakes, bearings, etc.

I got it. Too many things to go wrong after regular warranty expires that cost a lot to fix/replace. Rather have the peace of mind.

Got the extended warranty, if anything goes wrong with the electronics in a modern car, you'll be sorry without coverage. Just having to replace one of the front headlights covers 50% of the cost of the warranty. And people can say "LED lights are designed to last the life of the vehicle!" and yet I see vehicles that have factory LED lights with one that is out all the time. It's usually Ford's. :ROFLMAO:

Except those components are covered by the warranty.
