All,
First ford product- picking up Maverick Tremor this afternoon. I plan on getting extended warranty through Flood or Grainger(Thanks to Forum help). I get the mileage calculation- How many years is "ideal"?
I added 10/100 K with lights for 2450 from Granger with also 2395 for full maintenance for 10/100 and 20 visits. My SmartMoney people tell me that auto care maintenance is going to go up about 10% a year every year so that paying for those oil changes and brakes and shocks in advance is a good idea.

Yep. I understand I am going to pay a little more just before 12k miles than if I would have bought when new but I get 11k or so miles to get a feel for my truck and if I want to keep it long term and make that additional investment.
You won't pay more this time. The price remains the same, whether bought at 0 miles or 11,999 miles. The only thing that changes that is Ford's (usually) annual increases which affect everyone, no matter the mileage. That just happened in October, so you are likely safe until next October. It is usually a $100 increase, I think, if you go over the 12,000 mile or 12 month mark..

My previous experience was on a Nissan (2011 Juke), in 12 years / 130,000 miles on a 1st year model with a turbo and AWD all the major issues either popped up as a voluntary service campaign (5 in total, including timing chain) or were just starting to manifest when I did the trade-in (oil consumption, slight timing chain cover leakage, etc.). The only major maintenance required outside of factory warranty was a CV boot replacement, which was pretty easy to DIY with a replacement drive axle under $100.

On my parent's Fords (2009 F150 and mid-2010's Edge), they did pick up the extended warranty and it's paid for itself, engine issues on the F150 with the tow package and electronics like the automatic lift hatch on the Edge. If I went with the Lariat for the extra electronics or EcoBoost with AWD or the 4K tow package I'd consider the 10y/100k.

Still debating if it's worth it for the hybrid with the design in use by Ford 10+ years now and in theory less wear & tear on moving parts. XLT w/ the Lux package hit the sweet spot for me with modern conveniences like heated seats without much electronic dependency for mechanical stuff. Do I need to verify if the local dealer would honor a plan from Grainger etc. or are they required to as a Ford franchise dealer? In Maryland so believe I can purchase out of state.

It's more like bi-annual. It went up back in April or May as well.

Sign of the times... On the bright side, there are now 12 month CDs paying 6.183%.

My parents had CDs in the late 1970s that paid 15%. Of course, mortgages were at least 18% at the same time. We're not at the end of this yet, I fear.
