I'm on my second tank with a total of around 600 miles. With mostly 1/2 mile trips back and forth between fields mixed with a few 10 mile trips on back roads with stop signs every mile I'm getting about 28.5 currently. Figure a mile or so less due to computer error so likely around 27ish. FX4 and 4k tow.

I've had my 2.0 EB, AWD and 4K pkg for 13 months/12,700 miles. About 2/3 city driving and 1/3 interstate. Total miles average 26.8 mpg. Depending on winds @75 mph between 32 and 27mpg.

2.0 EB XLT with 4K package. With "no load" going ~350miles over a mountain pass and back, plus some idling and city driving I got 32.6mpg. I went 65mph the entire time though. It could probably be 35+ if was strictly going to one destination but I was going for a day trip and exploring a city. Plus it was hot so I idled the car a good bit running the AC.

If you go just 5mph slower and don't overtake people you can get some pretty incredible numbers. My record is around 41mpg on a round trip of 200 miles going mostly 50-60mph on some old highways to a lake.

My overall average is 26mpg in general. I rarely get lower than 23mpg even with mostly city driving. I also verify my results and adjusted my reported mpg in engineering test mode as it reported ~3% higher than actual from factory.

Unsprung weight and engine displacement with a side of sprung weight and friction. Air resistance means little in a truck. Maverick weighs less, has a smaller engine, and probably also has less rotating mass. The mileage will be better when used in the same manner during the same season.

The question you need to ask yourself is how much fuel will you actually save with just a few mpgs vs how many miles you drive. Also do you want a smaller vehicle or the larger one. Balance those tradeoffs and make a choice.

Polling other folks doesn't really help you all that much since we all drive differently and in different weather. If you asked me and I told you I averaged 21.5mpg in my AWD ecoboost driving in "normal" mode you'd be shocked. But if you dug deeper and realized that my usage case is pure brutality from a gas mileage standpoint you'd understand a bit better. I live truly urban, barely get to go more than 500 yards without stopping/going, and have few trips where the engine warms fully. However, that 21.5 is much better than the 18mpg I was getting with the Subaru Forester and 17mpg I got with a Hyundai Sonata before that.

I'd have purchased a hybrid IF I could have actually gotten one through the supply/demand struggles, AND they offered one in AWD. Since neither of those were true, ecoboost it is. I live in Buffalo, it snows... A LOT. Gotta have AWD/4WD. Learned that lesson with the Sonata 😳

I'm consistently getting 28mpg city miles with my Ecoboost in start-stop traffic driving in Eco mode; typically 26-27mpg in regular mode, and 33mpg highway, although once I pulled an amazing 39mpg in GA with a tailwind.

Don't beat your Maverick like a runnin' mule and she'll treat you right! ;)

Blend driving, average 23-27mpg. Would get better if I didn’t drive so quickly.

Agree with those suggesting selling a truck you enjoy, for another, to save 2-3% in gas is questionable. If there are other significant reasons to change, it becomes a worthwhile discussion.

FYI, I'm averaging around 31 (summer) in my 4K FX4 in mixed driving (10% city, 90% mixed highway). I also have a '21 Pilot (same basic layout as a Ridgeline) that gets 26 in the same routes. I will also add the Maverick is a much more engaging driving experience, with better all around dynamics than the Pilot. The Pilot is a pretty numb experience, but certainly capable & well built. The Mav is actually fun.

If choosing from the start, I would take a Maverick over a Ridgeline every time. But if I already had a Ridgeline, not sure I would make the switch, unless it could done in a timely and fiscally responsible manner.

Good luck.

I'm getting 26 to 28 in mixed driving and saw a bump up of about 1.25 mpg when the mav hit about 12k miles. An engineer friend told me a while ago mpgs go up a bit at about 12k due to the rear end gears fully breaking in so I was glad to prove him right. I also drive in normal mode, but am good at timing traffic lights and coasting up to stop signs, etc. Tire preassure is at 38 to 39 fully warmed up on a 90 degree day.

For anyone interested, just did my 3rd oil change and best way imo is to buy a set of Rhino composite ramps to change the oil and make an appointment at discount tire to have the tires rotated for free. Discount shoots for a 1 hour turn around time. And it worked for me. Jacking up the mav at the pinch points with a floor jack and jack stands sucks cause there's not enough space to use both without risking some body damage should the floor jack fail.

Yeah... it's really important to choose your vehicle options wisely before buying. I'm most satisfied with my mav over any vehicle I've ever owned due to it's relative low cost of ownership (hopefully reliabilty will be good going forward!), utility and "cool/fun factor". And I've owned a WIDE range of vehicles to include the following:

1988 Mustane GT (first New car and lots of found memories being a college student...sigh)
1992 Ford Probe GT
1992 Pontiac Grand Prix Richard Petty Edition
1994 Ford Ranger STX 4x4 extended cab
1998 Lincoln Mark VIII LSC loaded (first car after having a child... how that changes vehicle buying decisions generally going from fun to safe, the Mark VIII was both)
2004 Chevy Avalanche Z71 4X4 loaded
2006 Chevy Malibu SS (most problematic car in history, hence the choosing to purchase 2 toyotas subsequently)!!!
2010 Toyota Corola S
2016 GM Acadia AWD
2017 Toyota Camry SE
2018 Ford F150 crew cab 4X4 loaded
2020 Ford F150 crew cab 4X4 loaded
2022 Ford Maverick (WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER):)

Good luck with the Ridgeline, it is a fine vehicle. We test drove a base model, a Sport I think. It was okay, nothing exciting or terrible about it. Wife wanted something different and liked the Mav when she drove it.

On my first tank ever as we speak, will be happy to average 25 mpg as the wife drives mostly local stop-n-go. Looking forward to a first highway trip to see what it can do on the open road. Glad to hear that 30 mpg is possible on the highway.

I have an Eco front drive only. Basic XL with a hitch. I average 29 - 31 MPG all city driving. I don't get a headache at the gas station with this one. Waiting for my new MAV to come in now. Then CARVANA can come pick this one up. AND, so on........
