Yes as far as being able to use both. Not an expert by any stretch but my understanding is that PHEV usually have bigger hybrid batteries than hybrids such as the current Mav.
I would think that would be the case . . . having a bigger battery. We will just have to wait and see. As it is now, I'm extremely happy with my hybrid Lariat. Perfect vehicle for me in many ways.

First off... Love love love our Lux Lariat Hybrid. Ok, I say "our" it is hers, which was not the original plan... Wifes 2019 Lexus RX350 was sent down the road. I never imagined she would trade the Lexus for the Maverick. The Maverick was to be my work truck! (The Lexus RX350 is a great SUV, highly recommend btw... ) Where I am going with this is: if the rumors are true (assorted relible web sites w/pics suggest they are) and Ford is working on a AWD PHEV Maverick... The day it is available to order I will be all over that and we will be a two Maverick household.
They have a PHEV AWD Escape, so why not the Maverick? I was intrigued by the PHEV Ranger but it will be probably what, $10,000 more for comparable equipped vehicle....

Yeah I just don’t get the PHEV thing to be honest. Maybe in a one car household where charging at home is available.

Two cars then I think either two hybrids or a hybrid and EV.

PHEV cost more than hybrid at purchase. Typically taking a several years in gas savings to make up for the difference. When you are running on gas the mpg is generally less than the hybrid mpg. Then you also have the maintenance that a ICE or hybrid would have.

I do think the AWD would be a nice addition to the hybrid Mav however.

Not sure What you're speaking of. It looks pretty clear that it's on the website
The ST-Line and Platinum hybrids are regular, non-plug-in hybrids. The PHEV is its own level.

And when you look at a Plug-In Hybrid you see that it is FWD only.

But it says you can add it as an option as far as the all-wheel drive

No they don't. The PHEV Escape is FWD only. You need to buy a Lincoln Corsair Grand Touring to get PHEV and AWD.
Well it'll be interesting to see what is delivered cuz that's what the dealership ordered. Thank you

Batteries have come down so much in price that the cost difference between a hybrid battery and a smaller PHEV battery is only a few hundred dollars.

A hybrid already has 99% of the parts to be a PHEV, companies that really jack up the PHEV price either are doing a cash grab or are sticking in an excessively large battery for a PHEV .
