To add to all the science in this thread, I’ve been changing my Ford turbo trucks at around 70,000 miles since 2015 and have not had any issues at all.
I know trucks do this - do you sample the oil between changes?

Had my first oil change done this morning on my Mav at dealership at 4,800 miles. Very, very different for me this morning. I have 111.000 ford points and wanted to use them and also have the dealership do the oil change for documentation until the warranty period is over. I have always done my own oil changes on my Ford vehicles at around 5,000 miles. Have always used the recommended Motorcraft filters (FL 400S, FL500S and FL 910S mostly) and the recommended synthetic blend Motorcraft oil. Never had an oil related issue with any of the vehicles. Most vehicles going well over 200,000 miles with no oil related issues. Considering this is the first Ford EcoBoost vehicle I've had I have read many of the threads pertaining to oil. Very confusing that some of the full synthetic oils may not meet the very specific standards that Ford recommends? Way back in the day I had a Nissan 300zx turbo and ALWAYS used full synthetic oil for mainly extending the turbo life. I usually keep my vehicles for more than 10 years and 200,000 miles and hoping with the Ford recommended oil/filter this 2.0 EcoBoost will last that long. I may change my mind and go with a full synthetic when either my Ford points run out or warranty runs out!

Just a reminder to change your ecoboost oil at 5k miles or less. Listen to this guy that deals with these everyday. So many people on here post about following the oil life monitor and that early oil changes are a waste of money. This Ecoboost blew up right outside of warranty because he was following the oil life monitor, thats all the Ford Engineers need it to do and thats why the oil life monitor calculates the way it does, to make maintenance costs appear low. Oil quality is everything for Turbocharged and VVT engines. Once these oil screens clog, you are screwed. Lets make these Maverick Ecoboosts hit 300k miles like he says is possible!!!
Would a catch can help with this issue?

I was just adding a little humor and sarcasm to a thread that will likely go on for days with a lot of conjecture.
Made myself laugh because a friend picks on me for getting a new truck because mine was due for service. 😀
I had a neighbor once that would get a new car every year and trade his never been serviced except maybe a set of tires car with 65-80k miles.

I only had one oil change at the Ford dealer. About to do one before a long trip to So Cal. Any issues with non-dealer oil changes?
If you spec out the whole change parts wise, any oil, best filter they have or bring your own as they do not take up much space. Get the longest filter you can find I use Wix, motorcraft 400s they give you the look but it's you baby

With it being so new I am mainly wondering about if they are going to put in that ranger touch screen. Been waiting to order until that came along (I have a 2022 subaru with the large touch), but I may just order one anyways.

It depends on the type of driver you are, what type of commuting city vs highway, type of filter and oil you use, but sooner is best

That’s not necessarily true. Use good oil and good filter. Do a UOA to make sure.

For me, I used Castrol Edge and a WIX XG or Fram Ultra. 7k oil changes and roughly 120k on my Fusion with no issues.

But the manual says.....

I haven't even hit 4k miles on mine, picked it up 26 Nov 2022 and have done 2 oil changes. Cheap insurance for engine and turbo life.

I have never, and probably never will understand people spending money to buy a vehicle and then skimping on oil changes because "the manual says..."
Looks like you are talking about the bear necessities to prolong engine life.

I've yet to see a common full synthetic oil that doesn't meet their reqs.

First oil change on all vehicles for me is always 500-1,000 miles. Then every 3,000 after that. Except my Mustang. It gets 10 quarts of 5W50 Mobil 1 every 1,000 miles. It's not a daily though at more than double the factory HP, and it does see some racing.

My first was 800 miles... Then did it at 3 months, and just again at 3 months. I got to the 800 mark quick because of the newness.

From what I have heard there have been less Black appearance packages ordered in 2023 than expected and available to fill which should equate to a lot of black leather, and cloth seats and interior trim left over. I would like to see a black leather interior option without the rest of the package made available under $500 on the Lariat, and the same in cloth for the XLT, for those who really don't want the desert brown leather or the Navy Pier cloth, but don't want to spend the extra $1645 for it.
