I think I just might be poor. I got a $7k minivan for the car seat and kept it for 7 years. No new Ram, no new Explorer limited, no new Maverick. For the life of me, no clue how people can afford all these vehicles.
My last new vehicle was a 2008 Chevy HHR LS 5 speed. I still have it as a spare vehicle but daily drove it for damn near 15 years before this one. Once it was payed off I just kept saving the car payment money in savings as if I was still paying on it. I dont believe in buying $40k to $50k vehicles. The maverick was right priced for the model I ordered XLT AWD 4K. No other extras besides in cab power inverter and full size spare. Plus I got the Granger deal. Right vehicle, at the right time, and right price for me. After saving the car payment money after the old chevy was payed off, I payed cash for this one. My old 1994 Chevy silverado C1500 i bought new special order 29 years ago I also still have and use. As a matter of fact it made the trek to Lowes last week for sheetrock and exterior panel board.

Enjoy that sweet ride Gunny! My last new vehicle was my Dakota ($25K out the door in 04) it's been good for 150k, but tired of the 13 mpg. Looking forward to that Hybrid mileage (if it ever gets scheduled). ✌ Thank You for your Service 🇺🇸

Sounds like it's cheaper to keep 'er...for a long ass time. Hope the OP can settle in with the Ram. At least the Mav was a likely gain.

I've been driving 5k used cars for 25 years, swapping every 5 years or so. I suppose it's time to settle down now. Ah shit, I better get a ring...

Curious why Ram and not F-150? Was ram just giving out better incentives?
I had an F150 Lariat, and F250 Tremor, both nice trucks. The Ram just has a much better interior and for my 7 month old baby it just rides softer. And yes, the Ram incentives were too much to pass up.

I saw a commercial just yesterday that Ram was offering up to $10K off on Ram 1500. I am sure it is only certain trims but still, in this day and age, a rebate of any kind is unheard of.
Yes you're right any rebates in this economy is unheard of. They are offering 10% rebates for the Laramie 4X4, a lot of money on a $71,000 truck. With the dealers discounts it was almost $15,000 off the Ram. Plus they gave me $10,000 more than what I paid for the Maverick!

Hope you enjoy your new truck as much as you did the Maverick. I’m still waiting for my Maverick to be built.

You know, years ago I tried to join the Marines. But I couldn’t pass the physical.
I tried and I tried, but I just couldn’t do it.

Just couldn’t get that jar to fit on my head.
So I joined the Army instead. From one vet to another, thanks for your service.
Good one! Thank you for your service as well.

Nice choice if you must trade. And I had a 2020 Ram 1500 with the Hemi and averaged right at 20mpg combining city and highway driving. Just city driving, no it won't get 20, but on the open road you will be surprised.
I got the Hemi with the eTorque and so far averaging 18 MPG my first 100 miles.

I had a Hemi and it was 9mpg in the winter. Summer was around 13mpg city and 15mpg highway. I could feel that four air suspensions were not the same as new around 36k and less than 5 years. You might want to think about extended warranty.
Thanks! Yes, I'm looking at different warranty options now.

Both trucks are mucho nice. My nephew swears by his Hemi Rams. I was always a MoPar guy. This Ford really did it for me as far as my needs go. But then again my youngest is 10 years old, and my oldest is 24 and flown the coop. My 16 year old is going to be driving soon. When we travel we use the wifes car a Chevy Impala most times. Its pretty big inside. The back seat of the maverick is just fine size wise for the 2 kids on shorter trips. As said above, ya gotta do what you gotta do. You traded in one nice truck for an even nicer truck. Those Rams are really gorgeous inside especially the Laramie editions. Dodge really outdid themselves on the interiors. Best of luck to you.
Thanks! Yes, the Laramie is very nice and luxurious, more so than my F150 Lariat was.

You'll be happy with the Ram. I bought my 2011 new and I'd buy another in a heartbeat if I need another 1/2 ton. I've got 250k miles on mine and it was very trouble free till about 245k. Now I've just got a few small things to do to it but nothing major. Started out strong with about 18 mph around town and 22 on the freeway. More if it was a highway limited to 55 mph. Now I get around 13 mpg no matter what I do if I'm lucky. I've used it like a 1 ton pickup and it's never let me down. Change oil every 3500 and that hemi will last.
Thanks! You got a lot of miles on that truck!

Ha Ha Ha... I wish I still had my 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan, very comfortable van! I'm not made of money either, I've just managed to save a little. The new car payments however, suck big time!

Thank you Sir! I wanted a new Dakota Quadcab back in 2000... unfortunately my kids voted me out and I got the Grand Caravan instead. It took me a year to get my Maverick, hopefully you get yours sooner.

...My family has grown and unfortunately the baby car seat just doesn’t fit well with other passengers…but my family will be comfortable during long trips.
Is this a sign that I should consider something bigger? I've been looking at F-150's and Silverado's because I've been worried about this exact thing with passengers being comfortable on trips.
