According to Bloomberg news (Why airfares, hotels and cars are getting so expensive for Americans)
(The article may be behind a pay wall, here is an alternate link Bloomberg - alternate link)

"Ford Motor Co. said this month it is aiming to maintain robust sticker prices, even if that means rolling fewer cars off its assembly lines."

Other general excerpts:
"The pricing tactics reflect lessons of earlier phases of the pandemic: When Ford and its rivals struggled with a chip shortage, they saw running with a thinner backlog of cars had profit upside."

If this really is Ford's new pricing and production strategy the odds of getting a Ford Maverick or any other popular Ford vehicle is much lower and likely to be more expensive. It does cause me to question how much longer I will wait...

Corporate Greed strikes again. There is a point where people will stop buying. What happens then? If you have no sales, you have no profit. With other costs also rising faster than wages, its not sustainable in the long run. Time will tell, though.

A better title would be:

Ford maximizing profits by raising prices to better match demand with production.

Let's see - when the 3rd shift is added the Hermosillo plant will be running at designed max capacity. Sounds like limiting to me.
Yes after limiting production for 2 years, and giving the Bronco Sport 60%-65% of the annual production capacity of the plant. Dealer lots are filled with Dozens of BS for sale, but they won't build the Customer ordered Maverick units! No unsold Mavericks to speak of available anywere. If that isn't limiting production I don't know what is. They can't even build a weeks worth of orders in a year. While 2 Million Fords are built each year, we get a trickle of piss to wet our appetite. I am loyal to Ford, but this crap pisses me off.

I will continue to wait, order my MY24 when that day arrives and continue my search for a nice 2021 or 2022 Taco in Army Green. Whichever truck pops into my life first shall be the one I buy.

I have driven Ford products for 33 years running now, but that loyalty went out the window when the automotive world changed to it's present state of affairs. i am good with either direction the pickup gods take me.

To get better equilibrium between price and demand, it wouldn't surprise me to see Ford raise MSRP for MY24 by 2-4K, partly due to costs and more due to increasing profit per unit.

Meh... news sells... bad news sells more.

Don't get too worked up about what media outlets pretend to know... a single soundbite doesn't write the whole song...

We're unindated with it... shucks... we're probably guilty of starting and spreading it a fair amount ourselves.

We're not in the middle of a flipper/scalper apocalypse, ford isn't inherently evil, biden/trump aren't completely responsible...

it's economic ebb/flow... it's supply/demand... with some world altering conflicts and events beyond our control over in this hemisphere.

However, if Ford thinks they can normalize what scalpers and opportunistic dealers have done in the short term, then that would be a grave error. They make too many misteps with features and pricing of the Maverick and they'll slow sales of it and steer folks away from the brand.

Ford needs the entry level Maverick to bring people to the brand; otherwise the F150s will just keep piling up (https://www.kbb.com/car-news/car-dealers-have-almost-normal-inventory-again/ - F150 stock levels at 80/90 days...) Ask the dutch about tulips...

If you think Ford is making too much money you aren't looking at their financials or their stock. Churning out more low profit trucks would not necessarily improve that.

I’m looking at other mfg. / models. Sat in a Santa Crus today. I like the car, but it’s too small for me.

Corporate Greed strikes again.
Companies have always been greedy, but world governments are supposed to police two things: 1) stop monopolies from forming and break them up when companies get too big in order to encourage startups and 2) ensure that if there are only a few big players that they don't promise to not compete in order to keep prices high.

Seems that none of that is happening lately. :(

Maybe, but multinational companies are not easily regulated compared to say Standard Oil or Ma Bell. And global government monopolies like the EU or world economic forum types are rife with grifters and beaurocrats.
