These trucks caught my eye back in late 2021... But didn't really consider getting one till spring of 2022. I do not want to pay over MSRP period. I have the ability to buy with X plan plus have a bundle of ford pass points to use. I figure I needed to order one and wait on it. Waited for order banks to open and when they finally did in September I put in my orders. Yes I said orders, I guess I am a greedy SOB, as I figured with constraints and whatnot I would order one truck with the bare minimum level of trim and options I could live with ( a XLT hybrid with remote start, co pilot, lux package ) and another exactly how I really want one ( Lariat hybrid with Lux, remote start, BAP, both co pilots ). Did this because figured it would double my chances of getting one or the other built, and to be honest there is a big difference in price between the two and was thinking if the cheaper XLT came in first I might decide I can live without the extra stuff the lariat has and be happy that I saved 6 grand.

Ordered from one of the biggest dealers near me in Charlotte NC. Then went to another large Charlotte area dealer and placed duplicate orders with them. That puts me on the books with 4 orders.

Yes I know there will be people saying my 4 orders are greed, and my orders mean less chance someone else gets their truck. My plan was to only take the first one that came in and likely cancel the other 3. Maybe if the XLT came first, I would keep the Lariat orders active till one of those is built and once one of them is built I could sell the XLT privately and get the Lariat. But I did not intend to buy up all 4 trucks. But whatever, I did what I did and if it makes me a bad person than so be it.

But aside from all that, I spoke to both dealers earlier this week and honestly it seems highly unlikely I will get any of these four trucks. Both dealers told me they had over 200-250 orders ( at each dealer ) placed in that short window in Sept the banks were open, and both told me they have seen hardly any of those orders come in at this point. One of the dealers said he doesn't think they have gotten in more than 6-7 trucks out of the over 200 they put on order. With 2024 banks opening in July, I don't see high odds that any of my orders will be picked up.

Be interesting to see if other dealers are in the same boat, with a high percentage of unfulfilled orders.

I still want one of these trucks but I am not desperate by any means. We did some shuffling around with vehicles in our household and replaced my wifes 2019 Mazda CX9 with a highlander, and I decided to keep the Mazda for myself to drive while waiting for the Maverick. I like the Mazda so much I almost don't even care if I get the maverick at all. Pretty much just the rising gas prices and the promise of 40+ mpg with the hybrid engine is the only real appeal to the maverick at this point as the Mazda is a much classier vehicle with outstanding fit and finish and bells and whistles the maverick would offer... and the Mazda is about paid off at this point.

I had predicted by summer it would be somewhat easy to find used and unclaimed mavericks for MSRP or below, but now I am rethinking that.

Hopefully none of these dealers made you sign a purchase contract. If one did, they may hold you to it on these multi-orders.

The types of orders dealers enforce have been talked about on this forum, their pros/cons, etc.

I actually did sign a purchase contract back in summer '21 because I wanted to lock the dealer into the price. On delivery, I walked in, and there was nothing for the salesman to do but give us keys. Just mentioning this because you want the Mav at a certain price point.

No need to feel greedy. I ordered two and while waiting bought two more. Once my first one got built I sold one for a profit. Got a build date on the second one and when I get word it has shipped will sell the other one I bought and have the two I ordered. As far as your dealer not getting but 6 or 7 out of more than 200 just blows my mind. My dealer ordered about 300 and has received more than half and trucks coming in weekly. I am vehicle poor as well and getting ready to sell some … just my wife and I with 2 Mavericks, hubris Kia SUV, Honda CRV, RAM truck and VW EOS. Getting down to hybrid Mavericks and our EOS HT convertible play car.

Just you being on here and writing up a lengthy diatribe means you are just as desperate for one of these as many others. The End.

4 orders? 20 orders? may the bedbugs of a 1000 Super 8 Motels take refuge in your pubes....

anywho... while you all are placing multiple orders, could you place one with the specs that I need so that eventually there is a vehicle on a dealer lot that I'm willing to buy when you don't take delivery of yours? PM.. I'll give you the specs...

Although this has remained a secret, I have had someone tell me that Ford
Computers void all orders when the total exceeds two. As I recall, Ford publicly said five max. Play the system and sometimes the system plays you!! No, it may not be greed; some would consider it selfishness. Hey, I come first! If the order banks close quickly because of people like me, too bad!! You are just out of luck!

Until someone shows proof that this is the case, it is all just rumor. I would assume (yes, assume) that someone who placed 4 or 5 orders would be wise enough to be checking up on them to see the status in the system is set as "Unscheduled - Clean". If Ford was voiding orders, they would either literally be canceling them (if so, how would they decide which they cancel), or the status would read something other than "Unscheduled - Clean". It would be a massive stretch to think that Ford has some sort of shadow system where they are voiding things, yet keeping them looking normal in the customer and customer support facing systems.

I have no problem at all with it. I originally planned on ordering at least two to better my chances but all of the dealerships in my area wanted at least a $500 deposit. I had the money to put down but I just wasn't comfortable giving several deposits for that much because even though they claim it's a refundable deposit dealerships aren't exactly known for being honest.

Interesting. Dealers in my area were primarily free, with very few requiring deposits, the polar opposite.

I'm in a similar boat. When the Maverick launched I was initially interested but tentative to purchase a first year model. I like many didn't anticipate the high demand which has only been exaggerated largely by high gas prices in 2022 and continued supply plan chain issues. I ordered a hybrid and ecoboost XLT with the exact same specs. Both were ordered separately from the two largest dealers in my area on the first day ordering opened. If neither schedule this year I will likely re order the hybrid but purchase another vehicle in the fall. Unfortunately there really isn't a comparable vehicle to the hybrid Maverick for people to cross shop.

Ford is just asking for this behavior with their silly allocation system. None of us know where we should stand in line. Large dealer, small dealer, both? Two dealers? Ten dealers? Every dealer you pass by that doesn't demand a deposit?

In this day and time, @Ford Motor Company should be able to take orders AS THEY COME IN and then build according to constraints. Hell, they could even tell a dealer they have 10 Mavericks coming and then stop taking any new orders from that dealer when they've sold 10. That would let buyers see that there was an empty shelf, so to speak, and go find another dealer to order from. This taking 250 orders and only receiving 10 of them has got to be as frustrating to OPs dealer(s) as it is to those who order them.

After 491 days, I got my Hybrid Lariat and love it...but if they come out with a flat-towable Hybrid AWD (HEV or PHEV), I will have to figure out where and how to order it.

At some point in time, if they continue this, they will be gearing up for 200,000 orders and find that there were really only 50,000 true orders because they trained all of us to order 4 and hope for 1 or 2. It should NOT be this hard.
