Looking through the forum it seems as if these Mavericks are often totaled due to price of repair even with minimal damage that would be easily repaired on a typical body on frame truck.

So are people’s insurance costs high? I would think rates would be going up to ensure profitability for the insurance companies. How does it compare to other cars you insure if you insure more than one vehicle.

I have mine finally scheduled for build. I’ve been waiting since Oct 2021. I’m wondering if I’ll get insurance sticker shock. I hope not.

Insurance has a lot more to do with where you drive than what you drive. Call your insurer with your VIN number and see what they quote you.

My insurance on the Mavericks is about the same as on the Kia Niro SUV.

My Maverick is much higher than my other two SUV's (2013 Escape and 2017 Explorer). Both of them have a lot of safety features and Technology. My agent told me the higher cost was due to the amount of technology built into the vehicle.

Safety features and number of miles you drive matter more. My wife's 2020 Escape was literally the same premium as the 2008 Escape it replaced despite the 2020 being far more feature rich.

should I assume your truck is without any of the 360 goodies?

If it's not your daily driver you can possibly get an often over looked discount if you declare annual miles at 5k or 8k or xxk. You will have to certify miles driven at annual renewal. The insurance co uses your vin to get MSRP and safety features to set the premium. You can set your deductable higher to lower premium amount but I carry $100 comp deductable. Also for only $8 or $12 additional I carry a larger rental car limit if I need it. On homeowners or renters personal property policies be sure to carry replacement cost rider (best to take pics and have annual inventory, if you have 36 pair of underwear that have MSRP of $12.95 each, not what you paid on sale but what you would have to pay to walk in store and buy them, if they are blown away in next tornado)

I live in the metro Richmond, VA area and full coverage on my '23 Lariat is $202.82 per month, less than I had anticipated.

Also age and driving history are the 3 main factors

Full coverage for me is $60/mo with medium coverages. Obviously age, driving record, and location have a lot to do with it. The Maverick was actually cheaper to insure than my last vehicle (2016 Rav4).

my '22 xl was under 1K a year. In the past when purchasing some newer (not new) vehicle I was surprised when the cost to insure was about the same or less than my previous vehicle that may have been 8-10 years old. Insurance agent told me that the reason for this is that newer vehicles typically have much better safety features and ratings than older vehicles and that insurance is based more on fixing YOU than the vehicle when in an accident. Mav gets excellent safety ratings so any perceived 'mavs have a glass jaw' theories are countered by keeping the passengers safe: 2023 Ford Maverick Crash Test Ratings - Autoblog
