My daily drivers were 5 regular cab rangers since 1989. I drove my mustang for fun in the summer. I had a first year neon I bought from a family member and drove a little before I sold it.

I have had some struggles getting used to my mav. It's wider is the most obvious thing.

I got the xlt, fx4. The other night right in front of the courthouse, I ran over a curb on a narrow street turning right. Both wheels in the grass. No traffic, but practicing on a tight turn to stay in my lane.

Anybody else having to learn the way a new type of vehicle drives?
I doesn't have the emergency brake lever so it harder to do a 180 on slippery roads.

For me, it is still "Ranger-ish"
But, still getting use to the width (little wider, don't want to knock off my mirrors).
Having to lift my feet "up" when getting out. (deeper sill).
and the rear view is less, with the tinted windows, extra distance from the rear window (2nd row of seats) and high end. (I don't trust the camera).
My Regular Cab (2-door) Rangers had larger rear views.

I like the height of the cab. Not too low nor too high. Had to drive my mother-in-law's Camry the other day and I had to be elastic-man getting in and out. Likewise with the full-size trucks . . . 'this thing have a step ladder?'

Yeah, the Maverick is surprisingly wider than it feels like it would be... I've had to be very careful with curbs on the right side. And I've noticed that every time I turn the "lane centering" on, it moves me about 6" to the left of where if "feels" centered in the lane to me. Checking the rear-view mirrors, the lane-centering is correct and I am off-center on my own... Sigh.
When I am driving in a lane I visualize the width of what vehicle I am in as being centered not where I am relative to the center of lane. Works great regardless of width of vehicle. Think semi in a 9ft wide lane vs motorcycle.😍😊

I guess I am still trying to get the "Feel" of my proportions.

No problems at all. My 2 daily drivers were "Betsy" a 1994 Chevy Silverado standard cab with 8 foot bed, and "Lucky" a 2008 Chevy HHR wagon. I always drove larger vehicles. Before my 94 chevy pickup I had a 1971 Chevy custom 10 pickup with an 8 foot bed, and succession of 60s and 70s Dodge Chargers, Plymouth Barracudas, Dodge Darts, Dodge Coronets, and one 1973 Chrysler New Yorker. This thing is nimble, with light steering, and is easy to judge the corners. Fits perfect in my garage. I haven't been using Betsy for some time now since I got "the Mav". I need to drive her more so she doesnt feel forgotten about.

5 years of dailying a Fiat 500 Abarth, which felt big compared to the Miata I was driving before that, the Mav feels huge. I haven't had any problems yet because of how aware I am of it. I imagine going from something similar in size but with a foot shorter wheelbase, the way it turns could really catch you off guard.

I do get thrown off when the lane centering moves me left a few inches, because what I thought was center was actually hugging the shoulder. But my Abarth had a 2' tighter turning radius, so that I was used to already.

I have an older RWD regular cab Ranger, and it turns on a dime when parking. I would imagine I'll have the same adjustment when I get the Maverick. It goes into production two weeks from today!

You might possibly have the same experience as me? I left my 2 door Ranger behind at the dealership, and within a few turns on the drive home I desperately wanted it back. Really major buyer's remorse. The Maverick felt like a bloated whale.

But over the last six months the thing has grown on me. Just in terms of vehicle refinement, there's no contest. Now and then I wish I were in a two door, as the turning radius kills me on our crowded and narrow Asheville streets. But now I'm used to it and I know I have to plan where I go and let traffic pass until I can turn wide.

I guess the bottom line is this: If you come from a bigger vehicle, the Maverick is tiny. If you come from a smaller vehicle, the Maverick is huge. It also matters where you take it. It's one thing to drive it in suburbia. It's a whole different thing to drive it in a town where the streets remind me a whole lot of my old German hamlet of Sembach (from my USAFE days).

My Maverick will be front wheel drive, and hopefully will be easier to park than my wife’s AWD Explorer. I’m sure I’ll manage.

Back in, then you can see with the camera.
I do whenever I can but I live in LA and have to parallel park daily so I just had to get use to it. I'm good now but had to give a few "love taps" before I found my limits.

Yes, 3 weeks with my Maverick and still getting used to the size. I traded in a 21 Ram 1500 Laramie and it was a massive change, just about as large as the MPG is....

My daily drivers for years have been full-size crew cab pickups with 8' beds. My wife kids me when I park my Maverick out in truck parking in parking lots. So used to parking far out for easy in/out that I just don't think about parking where the cars park.

For me, the size wasn't much of an issue after a 25 years old F150 with full-size bed. I knew it was small and had no issue with parking with the front in, stopped less than foot from the wall. By now, it's just couple of inches. My driving history includes flatbed trucks, tankers, buses, just gave up my driver license for them 5-10 years ego. I've also drove T54 Russian tanks and other heavy military equipment.

Yeah, size is a ok, but all of the electronic chachkies, I am still getting used to.... ;)
