Ran over a fist-size chunk of pavement and it cut my fuel line! Dealer doesn’t even know what parts they are or when they can get them. We were scheduled for the airbag replacement tomorrow and noticed a strong smell of petrol in the garage yesterday afternoon. So I took it in today and hope they can take care of it all at once.

Meanwhile, no loaner because A)dealer doesn’t have any, despite what Ford says about getting one during recall work and B)no at fault driver so insurance co won’t get me more than a discount on a loaner and C) I still haven’t been reimbursed for the loaner I needed last May when some jerk hit my RAV. And that would be a handy amount of money to have now that I’m out of work and have a $500 deductible. (Just venting about that, no help or commiseration expected.)

Parts on back order. Taking bets on how long it will take to get them?

Insurance company called my husband, who is not on the title, about the claim.

I wonder if this would have been prevented by skid plates on the tremor?

Ford says factory has no ETA for fuel line parts.

They would reimburse me for rental car after repairs are done, but will not guarantee this and will not give me the email to submit the rental receipt to until the repair is done.

Is the fuel line itself broken, or is it just the quick connect fitting snapped off? Those fittings are showing available in the parts stores $10-20 each. Question would be can the poly side be re-used or not after removing the old one.

Tremor doesn't have "skid plates" unfortunately unless you count the one skid plate under the engine that they just split into two then yes, it's "skid plates". The tremor has the same formed fiber type aero sheathing in that area so a Tremor would have met the same fate unless miraculously that extra inch of ground clearance would have helped.

A thought: Did this “fist-size chunk of pavement” come from an unrepaired pothole or other lack of road maintenance?

If so, you MAY be able to get some relief from the state, county or municipality where the road is located … whatever entity is responsible for maintaining that road.

Every location handles these claims differently. Usually there is a time frame, or sometimes the pothole has to have been reported first and then not dealt with. You may have to submit a photo of the scene.

It is worth asking about, in any case, since you had actual damage rendering your truck inoperable (and unsafe.)

No idea. Took dealerships’s word for it. Can you see that from the photos?

I read the article about applying for state funds and doubt I can be made whole because of a pothole.

As KdeB said, the pothole had to have been reported and they just didn’t fix it, and they’d pay for their negligence. I have doubts it was reported, because it was only a crack in the pavement when I drove over it, kicking up that rock. Had it been any larger, I would have tried to avoid it. Secondly, my insurance company has paid for it, it is just not fixed because the parts are overdue.

What will go unpaid is my time without a vehicle able to tow my boat as fishing guiding season approaches, the Uber rides I will incur when my spouse’s vehicle is not available for day to day driving and my aggravation at the dealer for insisting a loaner is unavailable when in fact Ford MIGHT reimburse for a rental. The rental option was only admitted to me today, weeks after my Mav went into the shop!

Ach! Thanks for the forum to vent.

Your pics are good, but we have no idea where the fuel line damage is, it is not apparent in the photos
