I read an article that said there was a pending law suit saying the recall repairs were not an adequate fix. I would guess there is no reason to do it twice to get it right, why not wait until it is settled? I for one am not worried about mine enough to push the recall replacement.
I suspect they don't really have any proof that the new design airbag is insufficient (otherwise there would be a recall for ones produced then), but rather hinges on that in the initial filing to the NHTSA at that time Ford had not determined the root cause in the discrepancy between pre-production certification and as-built. So their reasoning extends that therefore Ford's engineers must be incompetent. Also they imply that Ford was knowingly covering up there was a discrepancy between December 2021 and June when the NHTSA brought it to Ford's attention.

Eugene Oregon dealer says they won't replace unless the air bags have been deployed. I gave up and left. Ford service is certainly not Job #1

Like probably most of us...I have received at least 3 recall notices from Ford saying parts are in stock for the side curtain airbag recall. I call my dealer's service dept - they xfer me to the parts dept...I sit on hold for a while, just to be told that they cannot get the parts (without checking).
I will be calling Ford in the near term and trying to get this resolved from the opposite direction. When it finally gets scheduled for the recall - I will try to impress upon them to take care of the significant rattle behind the instrument cluster. I can wiggle the dash right above the cluster and move it forward, back, and side to side...so at least I can reproduce and show the service tech. After years of full sized trucks - I still am loving my '22 Mav XLT a year after bringing it home. Putting a set of real tires (Cooper AT3's) on the FX4 wheels tomorrow.

Just posting this to see if anyone else has run into this. I recived another letter from Ford stating that the parts for my curtain airbag replacement under recall are now avaialble. I called my dealer to have them ordered and I was told that they cannot order them unless they are deployed. I told him that was BS and not what the letter from Ford stated. Has anyone ran into this? Should I call another dealership?
I was told the same thing. They supposedly check the airbag serial numbers & determined mine to be OK. Possible. Yet lousey communication from Ford yet again.

They are lying to you. Ford knows exactly which units have faulty airbags. It is not up to the dealer to push back on recalls.

I am having the same problem with Ford. I did call the 800 number and they said that the recall has to be done. The 800# is on the back off your letter. Good luck

Not surprised! Sounds like another clueless professional.
Got the letter, made the appointment, and dropped the car off at 8:00. Got a call at 3:00pm, telling me "we took the headliner out and your airbags are the ones that need to be replaced. We have ordered them and when they come in, we will call you for another appointment" So now two trips-aaargh

I simply went to my dealer service department. Handed the guy my 2nd letter saying can I get this recall done now that parts were available. He asked for my mileage which I gave him. He verified my phone number. He said he would call me when the parts come in and it will be fixed. No hassle, no lies, simply matter of fact type of guy. If I don't hear from them in 2 weeks, I will stop buy again. Not really concerned as my truck is doing fine. They have been a no hassle dealer in every way.
----- DONE -----
The dealer ordered 2/7. Called me last week and setup appointment for 2/21 at 8:30 am. Dropped off truck at 8:30. Picked up truck at 3pm. No cost. Workorder shows 2 curtain assemblies NZ6Z 26042D94 B and D95 B 2 bolts and washers.

They de-powered SRS, removed sun visors and assist handles, A & B pillar and lowered headliner to get to airbags. I inspected where they worked and fount fit and finish as it was when I went there. Nothing scraped or dirty inside. I inspected outside for dents and scratches and found none. Oroville Ford Dealership rated A+ in my book for this recall.

UPDATE TO PREVIOUS POST: Well, I just got back from the dealer. I made today's appointment for the air bag replacement recall on 2/17/23. They sent me 2 appointment reminders via email this month. I confirmed via both emails.
I check in, add an oil change and tire rotation to the order. That is when the service advisor states " If I can't get the recall parts today, will you be picking up the truck or leaving it till tomorrow?" I said I made the appointment over a month ago and the January '23 FORD notice said the parts were available to the dealers. His reply? "Its FORD not us. That's the way they run their parts on recalls".
Has anyone else run into this issue when getting their truck fixed under this recall?

Another update @ 2pm EST...Well, the dealership called. Parts they have for the recall "are too short". Says this is the 2nd set of recall parts that did not fit. They ordered another set of replacement parts and will call me when they arrive. So, after waiting for over a month (correct date that I made the appointment is 2/7/23) now I wait again. Considering the comment made when I dropped it off, I just knew that the recall repair was not being done today. Not happy with this dealership which claims "Our name means a great deal" over and over again on local TV stations....
