It appears to have some defect in the lower end. Crankshaft, bearings, rods something. Who knows what the repair might be. I would think at worst they will replace the crankshaft, & all main, & rod bearings. I wish they would just replace the engine & rebuild & sale our old engines as...
I do not agree this is a solution. Ford refuses to admit why they fear fuel or oil leaking. Aka rod through the side of block. Some hybrids blow a head gasket due to infrequent operating temperatures. Every hybrid built does not require the recall. Why? Toyota hybrids don't need this. Ford, come...
I was told the same thing. They supposedly check the airbag serial numbers & determined mine to be OK. Possible. Yet lousey communication from Ford yet again.
I think the biggest clue is it stops when put in gear. That leads me to believe the damper is rattling without a load on it. Loose rivets is probably the culprit. The solution is a new damper with stronger/tighter rivets.
Possible, but they sure look the same, & both are 2.5 Atkinson engines. Food for thought. The you tube video was showing quite a pile of Toyota 2.5 with rod hanging out the side of the block. Ford had to do the underwood recall for something they won't tell.
While researching Toyota hybrid problems I found a couple that matches issues on our forum. Damper-- It appears the springs & rivets are the problem. They get loose & the damper rattles until a load is applied. Rattle on morning start ups. It appears that the head gasket fails allowing coolant...
I was extremely pleased to have discount tire buy my new take offs & install new Nokian all weather tires. At 10k the Nokians have been great. Thanks discount tire.
No, it will tell me the rate of wear on rod & main bearings. While true the dealer won't take action, I can by trading in the truck & moving 0n . I'm not going to drive along praying it doesn't throw a rod.
Service advisors are frequently wrong. I just had my oil changed 22 xlt hybrid & they put 0-20 Motorcraft full synthetic. $75 for the complete service. BTW I sent an oil sample in for evaluation. My Maverick is on under hood fire recall, although it showed elevated levels of bearing material...
Took my 22 xlt hybrid in for oil change, tire rotation, & under hood fire recall. Asked about when my airbags would be replaced. After the service my paperwork said airbag not defective, no order needed. Ford sent me a recall, that somehow became ok.
Always wanted a hybrid, but wasn't willing to pay extra $$$$ for one. Along comes the Maverick, perfect for me, 4 door rear seated pickup box, & is a hybrid to boot. All at an affordable price. I've watched hybrid technology & find it a great solution. No charging, oil changes at 10k...
Sounds like a cable replacement replacement. Sorry, I was extremely worried after set two days in sub zero Temps with wind chills hitting -35. Luckily it fired right up. 22 hybrid xlt 9100 miles. It looks like if the cable is OK they can take the cold.
For Joy I've got all 3. April 22 build with 5600 miles. Possible rod bearing failure, side curtain airbags, & the dreaded junk harness. If Ford would man up, send harness to my dealer & change it so my family doesn't need to pray every time I turn the key it would instill a little more trust...
