Hi guys, been lurking for a while, new to post.

I’m sorry if this has already been asked/answered, but I’ve poured over the relevant threads, and I haven’t seen it. I inadvertently ordered a ‘23 Lariat w/ luxury package without realizing the Co-Pilot 360 assist split for this model year. Has anyone added ACC & Lane Keep Assist to one of these vehicles? Is the process, or components needed different than any other Maverick? TIA.

Do you have a VIN and scheduled build week yet? May not be too late to add it to your order - contact your dealer.

Unless of course it's already built.

That’s a good thought, thanks. I’ve got a VIN, scheduled for production the week of March 6th. I just left my salesman a voicemail. Although I wonder if making that addition at this stage in the game could significantly delay production. Oh well, it would probably be worth it regardless, if they’re able to make the change.

I bet you can't add it, unfortunately. I hate to say it, but ACC is one of the things I would probably not be willing to go without. I spend a good bit of time driving for work and ACC reduces fatigue significantly.

I'm in the same group - got screwed over by incompetent dealer/salespeople

I was so happy to have a build date, but now I see they did not add Assist + and I won't get ACC.
That is THE ONLY reason I was willing to pay for the Lariat. Adaptive Cruise. I'm pissed.

It can be added. You have everything you need, just need the radar upfront and some settings changed in Forscan.

I'm going to add it to my XLT lux.

Because you have a hybrid you already have the electric break booster.

Discussion about DIY here:
https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/f...averick-hybrid-xlt-with-luxury-package.14586/

I would not do it. I would also not expect any dealership or 3rd party garage to be interested in doing it, either.
With an ecoboost, I wouldn't do it either. Adding the electronic brake booster would really break the bank.

But finding a preprogrammed radar from an escape or a crushed Lariat lux and wiring it up is already well documented.

In its entirety it should be less than $700

sure it can. there's a whole thread that I already linked to above. and for me, it wouldn't be about the cost.

it would be the liability of driving using ACC that was bolted on. if you are in an accident and anyone looks at the telemetry they are going to see it, and they could easily raise questions as to the safety and roadworthiness of modifying a system that can literally drive the truck.

that's even if it worked perfectly and wasn't at fault. if there was a fault in the ACC that caused the crash, you're really screwed.

if any of you considering this or have already done it have thought about that and don't care, that's your business. just saying why I would never do it.

Lol, if "they" are looking for the black box from your vehicle, then you are already pretty screwed.

We are talking about using OEM parts and OEM computer programming.

I do appreciate your concern, but it seems to border on fear mongering in my opinion.

OP did not purposely choose this scenario. Having the factory install it likely is not an option.

this is similar to the '22 XL being modified to support regular cruise, yet it isn't. regular cruise just holds a speed. since it's throttle by wire, it's not even mechanically actuating the throttle body. people doing that are still hacking the ECM with Forscan, but it's a minor thing they do.

ACC is a system that steers, brakes and adjusts speed based on radar and camera input. Telematics get used in high $ claims in terms of vehicle damage and personal injury. It also will likely come up that no dealership can add ACC to an existing vehicle. It's factory installed only, again, unlike adding on regular cruise control.

Yes, those who left it off their order are in a bad spot. Possibly bad enough to refuse the order, or when they are able they should order a replacement truck that has it. But I would not try to add it.

I'm not fear mongering. As I said, you do you.

Absolutely analogous to adding Cruise control. You add the missing hardware that is not on the car, and turn on the features that are already built into the central computer of the car.

And dealers and body shops do install adaptive cruise control, regularly.

My brother-in-law's Accord was in a fender bender and the ACC radar was destroyed. As part of the repair work, a new radar had to be installed.

I absolutely understand and appreciate the issues you are raising, but this is not a third party add-on. We are talking about adding Ford OEM hardware and using the built-in programming.

I added cruise control without hesitation to my xl, and will add adaptive cruise control to my XLT when it gets here next month.

And as with factory installed adaptive cruise control, you must still stay alert with your foot ready on the brake at all times.

replacing damaged ACC that was factory installed is not the same as buying parts and using Forscan to turn it on. Ford dealerships do not have the tools from Ford to do this, so in theory they would be using Forscan also.

but they won't. I am very confident you will not find a Ford dealership willing to officially do this.

I'm confident that you could find some people who have worked at a dealership, or currently do, among the people who have used Forscan bolt-on ACC to their own vehicles, and maybe others.

Same thing here. Waited an extra year for ACC and got screwed over when I told the dealer to copy the order from my '22 and didn't realize I needed to add the ACC separately
