I just checked on Ford.com and shows version 3.4.23188 is available, I am still on 3.4.21194...When I try to update, mine just spins...I may try to shut off and re-connect and see if that helps mine download off wi-fi...
That's the current version (3.4.23188). I've upgraded several times and since I couldn't make the Wifi method work I've been going the USB route instead.

Yeah I went to the Ford site. It asked how do I want to do the updates. I chose wifi. Figured maybe that has to be enabled. No luck. Tried live chat but told me they were to busy. Will have to dig out a USB stick and try it that way.

Ok I got a stick and downloaded the files. It's in a tar.gz format. Windows 11 does not know how to extract those. Any ideas?

That's a unix compression file. Which makes sense as I believe Sync is a flavor of Android now. I think the truck itself will unpack it. Just follow the instructions on the website.

Since I have had my 22 Lariat Lux I have never has an update on the sync 3. I am confused as to what version I have as it does not match the versions even remotely from what others have posted. If anyone can explain this I'd be grateful. See attached photo. Thanks

Picked up my 2023 EB Lariat and the sync version in software Release 3.4 Build 22000. I have been notified of a navigation map update which I ordered from Ford via on a usb drive to install. WS told you can have Ford do these updates when vehicle is in for routine service. I know the latest sync level is 3.4 but not sure of the Build version. I scanned for updates but says my software is up to date.

Well apparently widows unpacked it when I moved it to the usb stick. I went back to the original download a zip file. Then extracted it to the root of the USB stick. It created a folder called sync my ride with the tar.gz files in it. I then plugged it into my truck and looks like it worked. Yet to be determined. A bit confusing. But would be nice if the automatic updates actually worked.

That's what mine did you are behind. I has to do mine via the USB stick. Not sure what it fixes. See my other posts how to do that.

That's not the latest build for sure.

Turn on the wifi/connect, then check for an update.
From 23 on there is no WiFi. How does this get updated without WiFi?

You can or should be able to connect to a router but your truck itself cannot not be used as a wifi source or hotspot.

Well looks like the usb method worked. Went from version 21194to 23188. Shame the auto update did not work. Maybe this will fix that.

Well I tried my phone hotspot on both 2 and 5 ghz. Manualy look for updates. Tried several times. It says it's up to date with a timestamp of when I checked. Guess I will have to try the USB method. When I go to the Ford site and put in my vin it does show an update. Next oil change I will let them know but don't expect anything to be done.
I have the exact same software version on my Lariat as yours. I've attempted to update the software at least 10 times over a 5 ghz, 2.4 ghz, hot spot from my celly, and nada.

I agree with what some people have mentioned. I think this update is for the lowly model versions (XL & XLT). I believe those models are running a sync system from the late 90's or early 2000's.

I'll leave my sync as is for now until I go to the dealership for my next oil change. The radio system in my Lariat is working amazing without any issues. So I'm not going to mess with it for the time being.
