I feel like that location might be perfect to print a maverick logo to stick in it. put a small light behind it. so it stands out.

I was also thinking of a way to make them a functional vent as well. But not having a mav yet, I am not sure if it is even exposed to hot air
The Ford people most likely would have made them as vents if they felt they were needed as on the F-150. There is a ton of room behind the badge – I was able to fit most of my hand up into the engine bay to feed the wires. Also, there is a rubber-like flap between space and the engine bay, so that would tell me Ford purposely did not want that to be a vent.

That would be perfect, thanks. I’m pretty sure I have the same “brand” of lights as you….. They fit the holes on my old 1500 Chevy, so hopefully it is an industry “standard“ size.
I haven't forgotten about checking. I will get back to you today.

What a cool mod. Not even close to brave enough to try this when I get mine.
Keep in mind that you have an entire community of help here. Once I figured out the logistics and what I needed to do, the install was very simple. I did the driver's side first and that took me a couple of days worth of getting the connectors I wanted, the lights, and of course, worrying about how I was going to do this. Once that was done, the passenger side only took a couple hours and most of that was spent taping up the wiring.
I have no doubt you could do this and if you have any questions all you need to do is reach out on a thread or a private message. Happy to help out.

Very nice.....I think it is the right amount of diffused light.
Thank you! Your opinion is much appreciated. I only had a little idea of how bright the light would look with the amber cover on. I thought about leaving the cover off, but then the light was more like a spot light. The cover diffuses the light just enough.

I really enjoy hearing how others are taking my mod and re-thinking how they might do it differently. I totally like your idea. That would look sharp. Perhaps lighting up the trim designation instead of adding the Maverick name? Either way, that would look cool. Good news is there is plenty of room behind that badge to perform almost any modification one can think of.

No big rush....my truck is scheduled to be built until late March...so I would say you have until at least May the way it seems shipping has been going for a lot of people.

Gee, only until May! Talk about pressure! Just kidding, of course. I'll check today so that I don't forget.

I didn't want a mile long post, so I thought I would break them up.

Here are more pictures of what I did and then I'll provide a monologue. Couldn't get the wife to film a video . . . even after I wrote a script!

After removing the badge, I drilled a 3/4" hole in it to accommodate the round LED light I purchased from Amazon . . . about $12 for a pack of 10.

The LED has grommet that holds it snugly in place. Also waterproof. I fed the wires out the back which is why I opted for these lights as opposed to ones that had the wiring out the side.
UPDATE: After posting this, one member posted a picture of how he mounted a small lighting strip that had the wires coming out the side. He did a remarkable job hiding those wires. Scroll down a few posts to see his work on his XLT

You can also see that added additional wires and taped them up. I'll need the wires separate when one goes to a grounding point and the other bridge taps into the existing turn signal at the front of the Maverick.

Next photo is my grounding point.

This is where I used a large ring terminal that included shrink wrap. I also taped it.

I've included a photo of the amber badge cover to show how well it fits. It's an option. I attached it using waterproof heavy duty dual lock tape so I can remove it for whatever reason . . . maybe the LED might need replacing.

Do you remember which wire you had to tap into on the original turn signal?

Of course, I do! Ok, I had to go look.

Driver side power - yellow & green combo
Passenger - blue & white combo

IMPORTANT: Reminder - these are the wire colors for the Lariat which does not use the turn signal lamps as DRLs.
