Someone asked on Facebook last week: For those that have a lot of miles on their Maverick what is your current opinion?

When I read it there were 64 answers. One said it was the worst purchase of his life and it's a horrible vehicle and Ford should be ashamed. (or words to that effect). The other 63 reported few or no issues and universally loved the vehicle. For whatever that is worth. I expected the normal 50/50 like / dislike. But 63 to 1? Seems like most people like it.
Personally, I'm looking forward to loving it. When I hear the detractions I put it down to the low price point and will accept it for the functionality. When I'm liable to whine about the long wait I console myself that I avoided the first year teething pains. Perfection is elusive.

Meh, it’s up the person to sort through the nonsense and get useful information that could benefit them. No different than a lot of things.

Whatever you do, don’t go to the mustang MachE forum . We’ll discuss things like your car becoming a brick for three months no parts to repair it and stuff like that.
We do that because bad stuff really happens and knowing about it can help you get it fixed quicker or prevent it in the future
Whatever. Jes sayin. Love my Mav and MachE but I like to hear all the problems since we can all be next

But they DON't Make things like they used to!

I just replaced a 1958 build date Home oven. Not because it quit working, But because wife didn't like the glassy pink 57 Chevy (or whatever) enamel paint.

Wife wanted "black stainless steel with digital controls". What's the over/under odds on how long that's going to last?

My first car was a '77 Buick that then got passed down to my little brother who got rid of it, still running, in 2002 with half a million miles. Only tire, brake, oil, and belts / alternator changes.

What's the over/under on the Maverick?

Valid point. Sometimes I come here and am so glad, learn all kinds of things. Sometimes I read and swear the whole thing off.

Honestly, if you reduced this entire forum to the "What did you do with your Maverick today" thread, I'd be fine. That one thread is a continuous joy to read.

Start the show.

2 drink minimum .

Tip your waiters and waitresses, they are working hard for you folks.
Hey Joe, did you actually receive your Maverick? Asking because your signature says you finally received it, but your profile says you've got a Tucson.

Well said, the maverick and c2 platform are extremely reliable. Both powertrains, especially the hybrid, offer fantastic levels of durability. Yet people are bashing the truck because 0.5% of all owners are experiencing issues.

Overall, for most of us, we'll still be happily driving our mavericks in 15 years with no major issues. That's the beauty of modern engineering and manufacturing. You'll never get to the point where every car off the line is perfect, it's just not possible for mass production. But the maverick team got pretty close.

As far as first year launches go, this is one of the smoothest I've seen from any brand in quite some time. Few little things here and there, but nothing major.

You're right, they make them better than they used to. Setting aside our opinions and looking at facts that can't be denied, cars are lasting longer than ever. In the 60s, your average new car didn't even last 7 years before ending up in the junkyard. Now, 7 years is considered nothing. Our 2017 explorer is 7 years old and it has never had a part break.

Compare this to my parents ford's from the 80s that would have to improve drastically to be comparable to trash. Their tarus that had a transmission issues within the first year, and their fiesta that kept overheating and eventually caught on fire.

The 70s and 80s completely destroyed the reputation of American cars. Wasn't alive but everyone I've talked to who was said ford was seen as a absolute joke during this time, as were all other American brands. Thankfully American cars are built much better than they used to be, so more people are willing to give them a chance. It's kinda like Kia, they used to be terrible, but are quite good now.

My father used to say he'd never buy another ford. Now he has two in his driveway. That's how much ford has improved.

Updated, thank you! Sold it a few months back and now the Mav is getting about 30K a year on it driving Texas and neighboring states!

I’d say 20k unfulfilled orders, 7k of which had VINs and build dates rises slightly above ā€œa little thingā€ and is more of a ā€œmajorā€ thing.
True, but I'm talking about the quality and reliability of the product. Thankfully, we got really lucky. We were going to place an order for the upcoming model year, but sources on when the order banks would open kept changing. Some said they opened in September, others said October. Others still said customers who didn't have previous orders filled last year would be given priority in September, with the order banks opening for everyone else in October, was super confusing.

So we called our local Ford dealer to find out when the order banks would open. The employee told us October. Turns out this was incorrect, and by the time we found out, the order banks had closed.

Frustrated, we reached out to the manager of the dealership, essentially explaining what had happened, and our irritation with the situation. He promised us that if anyone canceled their incoming maverick order, he would give us first pick of it. This was near the end of September.

Fast forward to the end of October, we had gotten a few calls over arriving trucks, but nothing we wanted. One was a lariat in light blue and was an Ecoboost, essentially the opposite of the xlt area 51 hybrid we wanted. So we held off, then near Halloween, it happened.

My phone rings, I answer "We just got a Maverick in if you want to stop by" I stop, we've heard this before "What trim level is it?" I ask, expecting to be disappointed "Xlt" That wakes me up a bit, now, eagerly "Powertrain?" "It's a hybrid" Now I'm fully awake and I'm pacing. Just one last question, don't fall apart for me at the end "What's the color?" I feel like a contestant after just giving my answer in the final round of who wants to be a millionaire by this point, knowing it ends it joy or tears "Area 51" I can hear the excitement in his voice, he knows he just landed a sale. At this point, I'm glad our house has high ceilings because I'm jumping and pumping my fist in the air.

Within half and hour, we're at the dealership buying our new truck with a spec virtually identical to the spec we would have ordered after only having waiting a few weeks and not having a pay over MSRP. Props to Larry H. Miller ford for being decent all around. Highly recommend going through them if any of the viewers live within a few hundred miles of Utah and are struggling with finding mavericks at sticker price. They won't apply markups to customer orders.

Yes and please feck off with your lemon avatars/emoticons when your vehicle drives fine but makes funny noises (dash, cold start, etc.).

How can anyone say they had a pleasant ordering experience? Even my dealer is pissed at Ford for pulling this shit after the Bronco debacle. You would think Ford would try to have improved the situation after the Bronco ordering issue but they came up with a worse solution.

I’ve been reading this forum for over a year. And it seems this forum could use a gentle reminder on a couple things. (If not, don’t throw shoes at me, just don’t reply and this thread will die).

This message board is like a lot of other specific model of auto message boards. People end up here for a few reasons. Some like to teach and learn about mods, some just like the company, and a TON have ended up here because they had troubles of some kind- ordering, wire harness, engine shudder, etc.

I see so many comments about ā€œunicornā€ this or ā€œyou won the lotteryā€ that, and a lot about ā€œall these problems make me not want to take deliveryā€.

Some (many) posters here would have their minds blown if they knew that out in the real world, outside of this website, that most people have very good experiences from ordering, to driving.

It’s like someone sitting in the waiting room at the doctor and assuming everyone in town is sick.

Y’all need to chill with the chicken little dramatics.
How dare you.....:p:cool:
